August 13: Vietnam reports 25 new coronavirus cases, tally hits 905

The Hanoitimes - Half of the total Covid-19 patients in Vietnam are confirmed after the community transmission returned late in July. Vietnam confirmed another 25 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 on August 13, taking the case count to 905, with more than half of infections found in the beach city of Danang where the virus reemerged three weeks ago. The Ministry of Health said that new infections will continue rising in the coming days. Photo: Zing The new infections included 14 in Danang, which continued to be the hardest-hit locality with 315 cases, and eight imported ones. On the same day, three Covid-19 patients died due to pneumonia caused by coronavirus, end-stage renal failure, cardiovascular failure, hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The virus has appreared in the community in 15 cities and provinces which are Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Dak Lak, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai, and Bac Lieu. Danang’s travel restrictions lifted

The Hanoitimes - Danang continues to thoroughly implement measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The Vietnamese Ministry of Transport has decided to allow providers to resume all passenger transport services to and from Danang from 0:00am of September 7 as Covid-19 has been put under control in the beach city. Photo: Vietjet Air To prevent the spread of the virus, passengers are requested to wear face mask, declare health status, and those having smart phones should install Bluezone, a domestically developed contact-tracing mobile app, to alert people about those who have come in close contact with Covid-19 carriers. Regarding air services, from September 7 to September 10, every day, Vietnam Airlines will operate a two-way flight between Hanoi and Danang, departing from Hanoi at 16:05 and from Danang at 18:05; one round trip flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Danang, departing from Ho Chi Minh City at 16:05 and from Danang at 18:20. After September 11, the airline will update the flight schedule according to the disease situation and the authorities' requests. Low-cost carrier Vietjet will also operate one flight from Danang to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City daily from September 8. Earlier, from September 5, the city’s authorities eased social distancing by allowing public passenger transport within the city to operate again, but vehicles are not permitted to carry more than half of their capacity. Authorities in Danang and neighboring Quang Nam province have agreed to reopen passenger bus routes between the two localities. The two localities also agreed on measures to manage and supervise the health conditions of permanent and temporary residents. Coronavirus outbreak in Danang now under control: Acting health minister

Photo: VGP Measures applied to cope with the outbreaks in Danang and the neighboring province of Quang Nam have proved effective, resulting in a decrease in new infections over the past days, Mr. Long said Tuesday. Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and several central provinces are intensifying contact tracing, testing, and examining risk to impose proper preventive measures, he noted. Elite doctors and nurses from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been deployed there to support the treatment of Covid-19 patients, mostly those in critical conditions. Days onward, health troops from Haiphong, Phu Tho, Thua Thien-Hue, and Binh Dinh were heading toward Danang to share burden with the city’s health sector as a large number of local health workers were quarantined after the virus remerged in hospitals. In the very first days of the outbreak, Danang enhanced the testing capacity with around 10,000 units per day.
