At first, the Education Publishing House announced that the textbook price would increase by 30 percent but then changed its mind. Analysts believe that the final decision was made following intervention by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) which sent an urgent dispatch to the publishing house. The Education Publishing House has complained about losses from textbook publication for many years. It has had to pay more for its workforce, printing house and transportation, but has not received financial support from the state. The books review achievements of Vietnam Education and its development strategy during the past 65 years. Publication of these books is part of the activities to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Education (1945- 2010).
