‘I’M BACK’: Trump returns to Facebook, YouTube after two-year ban
"I'M BACK," Trump exclaimed, alongside a 12-second video clip that appeared to show him giving his victory speech after winning the 2016 election saying: "Sorry to keep you waiting -- complicated business." The 76-year-old Republican leader -- who is running for president again -- has been unable to post any content for his 34 million Facebook followers and 2.6 million YouTube subscribers. The platforms benched Trump days after the January 6, 2021 insurrection, when a mob of his supporters seeking to halt the certification of his election defeat to Joe Biden stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington. He was sanctioned for posting content that the platforms said incited unrest, with YouTube announcing his reinstatement on Friday, two months after Facebook said it was unlocking his account. The former reality TV star had spent weeks falsely claiming that the presidential election was stolen from him, and he was subsequently impeached for inciting the riot. "Starting today, the … [Read more...] about ‘I’M BACK’: Trump returns to Facebook, YouTube after two-year ban

Funny old world: The week’s offbeat news
Love never gets old We always suspected it, but media mogul Rupert Murdoch has revealed himself to be an incurable romantic. The Fox News owner is to tie the knot for a fifth time at 92. "I was very nervous. I dreaded falling in love -- but I knew this would be my last. It better be," said Murdoch, who has only just disentangled himself from a short-lived fourth marriage to model Jerry Hall. His bride-to-be, Ann Lesley Smith, the widow of country singer Chester Smith, seems to have her eyes wide open. "It's not my first rodeo," she said. The multibillionaire, a quarter century her senior, wants them to spend "the second half of our lives together". Which means Murdoch counts on living to 180. 'Own the feels', Rupert A veteran right-winger, Murdoch has long raged against the nanny state. Saigon’s addresses are a riddle wrapped in a mystery
After motorbike-taxi driver Nguyen Van Nam dropped off his passenger at No. 60 Truong Dinh, he received an angry call from the person for dropping them off "at the wrong address." There was another No. 60 on the same road. He says: "It is also on Truong Dinh Street, half of which is in District 1 and the other half in District 3. Numbers are duplicated, which led to the confusion." The 50-year-old has been driving his motorbike on the streets of Saigon for over a decade. Nam says he is familiar with the main streets in the downtown area but did not expect the bizarre numbering system. It took him half an hour to finally find the right place and drop off the passenger. Motorbike-taxi drivers are most wary about Phan Xich Long Street, which spans three wards in Phu Nhuan District, due to its chaotic numbering, he says. "Each house has at least two numbers assigned to it. Two houses can be right next to each other, but their numbers can be very far apart. There can be two … [Read more...] about Saigon’s addresses are a riddle wrapped in a mystery
China’s Xi arrives in Russia to meet Putin over Ukraine war
Xi will be the first national leader to shake Putin's hand since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for him on Friday over the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia since its invasion. Russia is presenting Xi's trip, his first since securing an unprecedented third term this month, as evidence that it has a powerful friend prepared to stand with it against a hostile West that it accuses of trying to isolate and defeat Moscow. "We can feel the geopolitical landscape in the outside world undergoing drastic changes," Putin said in an article in China's People's Daily published on the Kremlin website, adding that he had high hopes for the visit from his "good old friend." For Xi, the visit is a diplomatic tightrope. China has released a 12-point proposal to solve the Ukraine crisis, but at the same time strengthened ties with Moscow. China has repeatedly dismissed Western accusations that it is planning to arm Russia but says it wants a closer … [Read more...] about China’s Xi arrives in Russia to meet Putin over Ukraine war

Dao Duc Huan, head of the OCOP Management Department, Central Coordination Office for New-style Rural Development (CCO), said the new set was laid down to replace the old set issued in 2019, which has begun to show cracks after four years being in place. As the old set had overlooked a wide range of products specified in Decision No.490, the new one has fixed the cracks by expanding its scope to cover the missing pieces. It has also altered old scoring rules by assigning a maximum score of 40 points to the "community strength" category, 25 points to "marketing capabilities", and 35 points to "product quality". Huan said the new set had encouraged the involvement of women and ethnic minorities in the production of OCOPs by giving extra points to affirmative … [Read more...] about New criteria for OCOPs
