A woman and her two children were killed in a blaze that broke out at a house in Da Nang City, central Vietnam on Sunday. The incident took place at a house on Trung Nu Vuong Street in Hoa Thuan Tay Ward, Hai Chau District at around 2:15 pm on Sunday, local authorities confirmed later the same day. The fire first broke out in the bedroom on the second floor of the residence. Local residents attempted to break open the door and put out the flames, but their efforts were in vain. Firefighting police arrived at the location shortly after being notified and were eventually able to extinguish the fire. They later discovered three bodies inside the house. The victims were identified as N.T.H.L., 49, and her two children, 14-year-old D.Q.P. and 11-year-old D.Q.T.. Police are working to determine the cause of the fire. Vietnamese woman devotes heart, soul to saving thousands of cats, dogs from slaughter
Huynh Thi Nhu Quyen has spent the past six years saving thousands of cats and dogs from slaughterhouses in Ho Chi Minh City. About six years ago, Quyen’s dog disappeared. Fearing the worst, she turned the search for her missing dog toward local slaughterhouses. It was during this hunt, when she discovered dozens of cats and dogs locked away in cages waiting to be butchered, that she resolved to save as many cats and dogs as she could. For 14 days, 5,000 Laotians received free treatment and medical support from medical practitioners from Vietnam, as part of a volunteer project. The regular volunteering trip involving Vietnamese doctors to Laos was halted for two years following the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 1 the 93-year-old woman in Hanoi's Nam Tu Liem District agreed to have her hair cut for the first time in her life on the condition that "it be gifted to cancer patients." Brazilian police probing rape allegations against football superstar Neymar have closed the case due to a lack of evidence. The Hoang Quan and Century City real estate projects which sold well thanks to being located near Long Thanh International Airport remain largely unused. The two projects were implemented after Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province got the go-ahead. Hoang Quan Real Estate Company’s Hoang Quan project was the first property project implemented to benefit from Long Thanh International Airport project. The five-hectare project which was built in 2010 has 21 semi-detached houses and 78 villas. Most of the houses have been sold. But a majority remain empty. Hanoi restaurant fined as employee processes food with long fingernails
A restaurant in Hanoi that was recently fined because a staff member had long fingernails explained that the individual in question is actually a staff’s friend who happened to be in the kitchen when the inspectors arrived. Khiem Restaurant, located on Hoa Ma Street in Hai Ba Trung District, was fined VND2 million (US$85) for having an employee who directly processed food without cutting her nails short. The facility was in the list of 32 food and beverage establishments in Hai Ba Trung District that violated food safety regulations between June 16 and July 30. The list was signed by deputy head of the district’s health office Ngo Lan Huong. Some common violations include failure to store food samples, lacking food safety certificate, failure to wear gloves when in direct contact with food, and not covering food properly.
