The National Traffic Safety Committee on September 9 afternoon announced the result of the contest "Painting dreams on helmets". The contest was held in Hai Duong from August 20 with the participation of 60 pupils at six primary schools in Hai Duong city and Nam Sach district. Nakazatozenryo Hoai Huong (class 5B, Thanh Binh Primary School) won first prize, and Le Khanh Linh (class 4E, Nguyen Luong Bang Primary School) and Pham Luong Hien Anh (class 3D, Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, all in Hai Duong city) snatched second prizes. Hung Yen student wins maths prize (08-08-2006) HUNG YEN — Hoang Manh Hung biked every day for 20km to attend a junior high school for gifted children in Khoai Chau District in Hung Yen Province - even when it was raining and cold. "I didn't want to miss any lessons," he recalls. His persistence paid off. Last month the 18-year-old won the gold medal at the 47th International Mathematical Olympiad in Slovenia. Nearly 20 years ago, Hung's family faced a dark period when his father, Van Phan, was fired and had to return empty-handed to his Tu Ho Village in Yen Phu District in Hung Yen Province, southeast of Ha Noi. Dark Diamond wins first prize of furniture design contest By Thai Hang - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - A chair named Dark Diamond on Tuesday won first prize in the Apricot Blossom furniture design contest, which was organized by the HCMC Handicraft and Wood Industry Association (HAWA). According to Tran Duc Manh, HAWA's vice chairman, the model won first prize thanks to the designer's creativity and high application. Second and third prizes were awarded to designs named Simple Shelf and Piece of Colored Pencils. Students from the HCMC University of Architecture created the works. Manh told the Daily that the contest aims to discover young furniture designers to respond to the industry's high demand for skilled workers. Phung Hoa Hoai Linh, the 12-year-old actress in "Mother's Soul," the latest product by reputed director Nhue Giang, has won the Best Actress Award at the Dubai Film Festival, which closed on December 14. This is the second time Vietnam received this award from the Dubai Film Festival. In 2008, actress Hong Anh took the award for her role in director Nguyen Vinh Son's "Trang Noi Day Gieng" (The moon in the bottom of the well). Hong Anh plays the mother of the little girl played by Hoai Linh in "Mother's Soul." As the little girl was busy at school, she could not go to the United Arab Emirates to attend the festival. Director Nhue Giang received bonus of $8,000 from the organizing board for Linh. This is the 8th Dubai Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in Asia.
