In 1954, to realize the Geneva Accords on ending war and restoring peace in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Government decided to send children of some revolutionary families in the south to the North to be trained for the future revolutionary cause. The move was meant to prepare personnel for the national construction once the country was reunited. PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc speaking at the event Among the 28 schools established at that time, there was one for children of ethnic minority groups and another for those of Vietnamese families of Chinese origin. The ceremony brought together over 3,000 delegates representing more than 32,000 children of Southern revolutionary families, who were sent to the North between 1954 and 1975. CMC and MND mission takes the “Returning to the Roots” tour to Cao Bang
The tour aimed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 30th anniversary of the whole people’s defense festive day. The mission offered incense to the Eldest Brother of the Vietnam People’s Army General Vo Nguyen Giap and fallen soldiers of the Vietnam Armed Propaganda and Liberation Team (the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army) at the Special National Relic Site of Tran Hung Dao Forest. They also attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Ministry of National Defense-invested project on upgrading the Special National Relic Site of Tran Hung Dao Forest. Over the past 75 years, this historical location, where the Vietnam Armed Propaganda and Liberation Team was founded with 34 members, has been carefully preserved by the Cao Bang people.
