The information was announced by Tran Manh Hung, chairman of VNPT's member council, at a ceremony held by the group in Hanoi on October 28 to receive the official licence to run 4G services from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). Earlier, VNPT began testing 4G services on the 1,800 MHz bandwidth in Phu Quoc island district, Kien Giang province and in some districts of Ho Chi Minh City in January this year. After receiving the licence, VNPT will make every effort to quickly and effectively establish 4G services across Vietnam, Hung pledged. The Prime Minister recently ordered the Chu Lai Airport in the Central Vietnam province of Quang Nam to open domestic air services by the end of this year, Quang Nam officials recently announced. Vietnam seeks to develop oil and gas services by 2010
The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) held a meeting in southern coastal Vung Tau city on Thursday to focus on solutions to develop oil and gas services from now to 2010. New child protective services needed
HCM CITY— A service network including childcare facilities, counseling offices and resident collaborators should be established soon to protect children's rights more effectively in Viet Nam, experts said at a workshop yesterday. The establishment of such a network was one of the targets mentioned in the five-year National Child Protection Programme, said Dr Nguyen Dinh Ton of the Viet Nam Association for Protection of Children's Rights (VAPCR). Although child protection had enjoyed a lot of attention by the Government and various organisations, efforts to date had not reached all vulnerable and disadvantaged children who faced several barriers in accessing welfare that was their right, he said.
