He clarified that the two sides agreed to promote their partnerships in the fields of digital, health, agriculture, education and green growth. The ministers also discussed the overall situation in the Indo-Pacific region, and sought measures to further expand their relations amid complicated developments in the geopolitical situation. Vietnam, Australia share resolve in climate change response: expert

Dr. Do Nam Thang, an expert in environment and climate change at the Australian National University, noted that the two countries share the goal of net zero emissions by 2050. They also have great potential in solar and wind energy, especially offshore wind, he said, adding that Australia led worldwide in terms of solar power per capita with 1,129 kwh per person in 2021, while Vietnam took the lead in Southeast Asia with 218 kwh. Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son attends 29th ARF in Phnom Penh
Participants affirmed the ARF is the most important forum of ASEAN to promote dialogue and mutual understanding. They reviewed the operation and proposed development orientations of the forum in the time to come. The attending foreign ministers welcomed the implementation of trust-building activities and preventive diplomacy, through which trust was enhanced and cooperation expanded. They agreed to give priority to cooperation in the areas of disaster relief, terrorism and transnational crime combat, maritime security, defense, peacekeeping, counter-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and disarmament, and agreed on a list of activities for the 2022-2023 period.
