When Vu Ngoc Minh Ha and her husband leave home in Tay Ho District at 7 a.m. for work, they take their samoyed dog named Xe Dap (Bicycle) with them and drop him off at a doggy day care on nearby Dang Thai Mai Street. They pick him up on their way home in the evening. For the past three years Ha, 27, has been entrusting Xe Dap to the center from Monday to Friday every week. "We don't want to leave our dog at home alone because we are afraid he will be lonely without anyone to play with or destroy furniture," she says. While the monthly fee is high enough at VND4 million, the couple pay extra for him to be fed extra meals and given spa treatments and other services. Omicron sub-variant BA-2.75 found in Vietnam
The new Omicron BA-2.75 sub-variant of Covid-19 has been detected in Vietnam. According to the Ministry of Health, the number of Covid-19 cases has been on the rise again in Vietnam with around 2,000 infections per day. The country has also seen the appearance of new sub-variants, including BA-2.75. A man is given Covid-19 testing in Vietnam Sub-variant BA-2.75 was discovered in many countries in early July. Experts warned that this variant has mutations that could affect people’s immune system and be easily transmissible. The Ministry of Health has instructed cities and provinces nationwide to closely supervise the pandemic and frequently update the number of infected cases. HCM City schools face overcrowding in new academic year
The number of students from kindergarten to high school in HCM City will increase by 22,000 in the upcoming 2022-23 academic year, according to the city’s Department of Education and Training. Vietnam fisheries watchdog orders inquiry into video of giant arapaima release
The Vietnamese Directorate of Fisheries required its subordinates in Ho Chi Minh City to verify whether a recently-circulated video capturing the release of an arapaima gigas that allegedly took place at a wharf in the city is true or not. Captioned 'Releasing 90-kilogram (198 pounds) arapaima gigas,' the 30-second video showed about 10 people on a boat returning a large arapaima back to the water. The location of the boat was believed to be at a wharf in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. Arapaima gigas, also known as pirarucu, is an air-breathing fish that is native to the rainforest rivers of South America’s Amazon Basin and nearby lakes and swamps, according to National Geographic . Among the largest freshwater fish species, it can grow up to 15 feet long and weigh up to 440 pounds, though fish that big have not been reported for many years.
