Vietnam Airlines plans to resume flights between Van Don, HCMC

Accordingly, the carrier will operate one daily flight on Wednesday from March 3-17; and three weekly flights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from March 18-December 31. The flight will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 13:00 and Van Don at 15:45. On this occasion, VNA will offer tickets at VND33, 000 (US$1.4) each one-way for the first three flights. The promotional program will be apllied for passengers who buy tickets with the mobile app, on the website www.vietnamairlines.com, and at the box offices and official agents of VNA from now until March 17 on flights departing from March 3-17. One-way ticket for the fourth and next flights will cost VND109, 000 (US$4.7) - VND590, 000 (US$25.5) from March 18-December 31, including taxes and fees. Vietnam has no COVID-19 case to report on February 28 morning Vietnam saw no new COVID-19 case over the past 12 hours to 6am February 28, making the national tally unchanged at 2,432, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Among the total, 1,530 were locally infected, including 837 cases since January 27. A total 1,844 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, and the death toll remains at 35. Among those still under treatment, 32 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 50 twice and 100 thrice. By February 27 afternoon, 10 provinces and cities had gone through 14 consecutive days without new locally-infected cases of COVID-19. As many as 63,054 people who had close contact with confirmed patients or returned from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantine across the country./. First Vietnam medical achievement award calls 16 winners The Voice of Ho Chi Minh City (VOH), the local official radio broadcasting station, together with the municipal Health Department hosted the first Vietnam medical achievement award ceremony on February 26 to honour 16 contributions to the community’s wellbeing in 2020 from across the nation. The contributions were voted by the public from 22 nominations selected by the award’s council of professionals. Tan Son Nhat airport to serve 50 million passengers a year by 2030

Under the adjusted plan, the Doppler Weather Radar station will be built on an area of 1,600 square metres to the north of the airport. A multi-storey car park will also be built, which will be connected to a new passenger terminal to be built soon. Under the plan, the airport will cover a total area of 791ha, an increase of 250ha compared to the existing airport area of 545ha. About 19ha of military defence land has been handed over for building aircraft parking aprons. The additional land of 250ha includes 18ha of additional national defence land, 35ha of land in the southern area, and 171ha of land in the northern area of the airport. An additional eight taxiways will be built to expedite aircraft take-offs and landings. At least 56 aprons will be added in front of the new passenger terminal T3 and in the southwest area of the airport, increasing the total number of aprons to 106. In the northern area of the airport, a reservoir with an advanced pumping station to prevent flooding will also be built. In addition, roads connecting to the airport will be built as soon as possible under the city's transport plan. To ensure the progress of the expansion plan, priority will be given to the construction of a new international terminal T3. According to a proposal by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the third passenger terminal with a total investment of more than 11.43 trillion VND (494.4 million USD) will be built in the south of the airport. ACV will invest in building the new terminal, using 100 percent of its corporate capital. The existing passenger terminals T1 and T2 will be expanded to accommodate an additional 30 million passengers per year by 2030. The new terminal capable of handling 20 million passengers per year will take 43 months to build, according to ACV.
