Finland temporarily refuses new Vietnamese passports
The Embassy of Finland in Hanoi announced on August 11 that it has decided to stop recognising the new-style Vietnamese passports due to the lack of information regarding the place of birth of the holder. In a statement released on its Facebook page, the Embassy noted that the new passport “does not contain information of the place of birth of the passport holder, which is a requirement for personal identification and also for processing of Finnish visa/residence permit applications.” “The Embassy of Finland will not receive applications for visa/residence permit of holders of the new passport until further notice from competent authorities of Finland. The Embassy will provide information in case of any changes,” the announcement concluded. Many vehicles passing An Suong – An Lac Toll Plaza could not have their ETC card successfully read, so the staff had to manually scan the card. On average, every day, in the An Suong – An Lac Toll Plaza, 1,600 vehicles face such ETC-related errors as wrong card attachment location or ticket value, locked ETC card, vehicle with two cards attached and one having error, inactivated ETC account, empty ETC account, money in ETC account not being timely synchronized or not being accessible. The number of vehicles with an ETC card increased significantly compared to the first day launching the system These errors have led to failure in ETC card reading and unnecessary transaction prolonging, which ultimately creates traffic congestion. The park's management said Wednesday the cameras have been in position where a local reported seeing a tiger inside the park in the central Quang Binh Province. When seeing the tiger, the person had freaked out, climbed a tree, and made some sounds to distract the animal, causing it to run away into the forest. The incident was later reported to the park's management board, the government news portal reported Thursday. A camera trap is a digital camera connected to an infrared sensor that can "see" warm objects that are moving, like animals. When an animal moves past the sensor it causes the camera to fire, recording an image or video to the memory card for later retrieval. The trap can be left in the field to continuously monitor an area of habitat for weeks or even months, recording the rarest events that occur in nature, according to the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF).
