Vietnam emphasizes global multilateral approaches to solving climate change issues
Vietnam’s engagement in U.N. resolution that urges the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to outline nations' legal obligations related to curbing climate change disasters and their impacts on vulnerable communities proves the country’s point of view, the ambassador said in a recent interview to the Vietnam News Agency right after the resolution was adopted on March 29. On this occasion, the unit presented 129 national flags, 34 portraits of Uncle Ho, nearly 2.000 leaflets, and disseminated information about maritime border security and some legal documents about IUU fishing and the Law on National Border; Law on the Sea of Vietnam 2012; Law on Vietnam Border Guard; United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982 (UNCLOS 1982), among others, to 85 vehicles and 928 fishermen. They also provided information about Prime Minister’s Dispatch No.732/CD-TTg, issued on May 28, 2017, and Directive No.45/CT-TTg, issued on December 13, 2017, among others. ADB agrees on loans for important projects in Can Tho
During a working session with the municipal authorities on March 29, ADB committed to loans for a 2023-2030 project on transport infrastructure in adaptation with climate change, including overpasses at five major intersections and others. Its total cost is estimated at about 4.9 trillion VND (199.6 million USD), of which 130.3 million USD was from ADB’s loans and the remainder from local budget. Foreign SMEs pour capital into Vietnam

According to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first quarter, Vietnam attracted nearly 5.45 billion USD in foreign direct investment ( FDI ), down 39% year on year. Of the total, over 3 billion USD came from 522 newly-licensed projects, up 62% in a number of projects but down 6% in capital compared to the same period last year. Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Quoc Anh said the province has investigated and punished all fishing vessels that were arrested abroad and violated IUU. All information have also been publicised on the mass media. The locality also launched crackdowns on violating vessels and those lacking the global positioning system (GPS), he said.
