HÀ NỘI — The classic Vietnamese epic Lục Vân Tiên , which may be read in a variety of languages and dialects throughout the world, has been given new life by international artists. Nguyễn Đình Chiểu, the writer of the epic, was a Vietnamese poet renowned for his nationalist and anti-colonial writings against the French. June 30 would have been his 200th birthday. Lê Quý Dương, the show's general director, gathered numerous worldwide performers to spread the influence and popularity of Lục Vân Tiên , a famous epic by Chiểu. Swedish singer-songwriter Tamela Hedstrom admitted that when director Dương disclosed his plan to invite her to make a song inspired by the epic Lục Vân Tiên , she was a bit surprised because she was unfamiliar with it at the time. China halves quarantine time for overseas travellers
China on Tuesday reduced the length of mandatory quarantine for inbound travellers, in the biggest relaxation of entry restrictions after sticking to a rigid zero Covid policy throughout the pandemic. The new guideline cuts the length of mandatory quarantine for overseas travellers to seven days plus three more of home monitoring -- a drastic drop from about 21 days of quarantine and home monitoring combined. China closed off its international borders in March 2020 and the number of international flights is still tightly restricted in an effort to tamp down "imported" virus cases as the pandemic rages elsewhere. Overseas arrivals have faced weeks of strict monitoring and costly quarantine in hotels and designated centres, as well as soaring ticket prices for the slashed number of flights. Under the latest Covid prevention and control policy guidelines announced by the National Heath Commission and the State Council, inbound travellers entering China will now be required to … [Read more...] about China halves quarantine time for overseas travellers

Talking to the press, he said there are three main areas for such cooperation, namely digitalisation, simplification of rules and procedures to strengthen the business environment; supporting equality, gender equality and equality for minority groups; and legislation and regulation around the green economy. He stressed that the strategic partnership between the UK and Vietnam is solid but there is plenty of room for it to expand. New damselfly found in central Vietnam
A new species of damselfly, an insect closely related to the dragonfly, has been discovered by a researcher from Da Nang’s Duy Tan University studying biodiversity in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. Damselflies and dragonflies are indicative of the water quality and general health of an ecosystem. They also help protect crops from pests. Dr. Phan Quoc Toan first wrote publically about the newly discovered species in an article published in the international journal of Zootaxa in early February, where he announced it would be named Coeliccia lecongcoi in honor of the scientific contributions made by Le Cong Co, the first president of Duy Tan University in the central city of Da Nang. Two damselflies of the Coeliccia lecongcoi are seen in tandem in this photo taken from Phan Quoc Toan’s paper published in Zootaxa in February 2019 . Phan Quoc Toan shows Coeliccia lecongcoi, the latest damselfly that he found in Vietnam and was featured in a … [Read more...] about New damselfly found in central Vietnam

AEON determined to fortify green lifestyle
Nguyen Bang Lang, in charge of sustainable development at AEON Vietnam The convenience and low cost of plastic packaging are omnipresent in the retail and service industries. What is your opinion on the use of these products? As a Vietnamese person, I’ve witnessed these challenges every day. I have three points on the use of single-use plastics in Vietnam. The first relates to the cheap cost of the material. The cost of plastic including in a product or transaction is barely noticeable, so both seller and consumer should have no difficulty in making decisions to use or not use them. The next point is that the techniques as well as facilities in Vietnam are not yet ready to support businesses in changing to more sustainable alternatives. The final point is that the after-use process has not been developed yet. In detail, we have no standardised system to classify, recycle, or treat the material. So, we don't have anything to support resolving plastic usage. When it comes … [Read more...] about AEON determined to fortify green lifestyle
