Coach Troussier wants more overseas Vietnamese on national team
At a press conference held Monday to discuss the upcoming June training period for the Vietnam national and U23 teams, Troussier said that coaching alone will not be enough to level up Vietnamese football. According to Troussier, the core power of a national team comes from club football. Therefore, it’s necessary to establish a league system with 40 to 50 games a season. He also said Vietnamese football could improve by having more overseas Vietnamese players who are trained abroad come here to play. Vietnam qualify for U20 Women’s Asian Cup
Sixteen-year-old forward Ngoc Minh Chuyen scored twice and captain Le Thi Bao Tram scored the other to secure the win in Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho Province. With their previous 3-2 win over Iran Vietnam got six points, the same as Australia but second on goal difference. The two teams have qualified for the main event and will play each other on Wednesday to decide the group's top spot. In March Vietnam came through the first qualifiers with 3-0 and 11-0 wins over Indonesia and Cambodia and a 1-1 draw with India.
