New Zealand media: Vietnam – the time has come

· January 19, 2021 ·

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has started to emerge as the latest Asian nation with a strengthening position in the region, and a future high potential for economic growth, wrote Murat Ungor, a Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics, University of Otago in his article run by New Zealand’s website asiamediacentre.org.nz on January 18. In the article, the author cited data from the World Bank as saying that the country’s  gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 7 percent in 2019, similar to 2018, one of the fastest growth rates in the region. · January 19, 2021 ·

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam's growth accelerated to 4.5 percent in the last quarter of 2020, resulting in an annual growth rate of 2.9 percent - making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world, according to the World Bank (WB). In the January edition of its monthly Vietnam Macro Monitoring, the bank said the country’s industrial production and retail sales continued to expand solidly, with growth rates close to pre-pandemic levels. December 2020 marked another strong performance of merchandise trade, with double digit growth rate in imports (23.1 percent) and exports (17.8 percent), while FDI inflows slowed. Consumer price index remained flat in December 2020, as food prices stabilised, while consumer demand has yet to fully recover from the crisis. Credit growth picked up slightly after the State Bank of Vietnam cut policy interest rates in October, ending 2020 at 10.1 percent. Auctions and granting of land use and rental improved revenue collection in the last … [Read more...] about Vietnam – one of fastest growing economies: WB

MoIT working to ensure supply of goods during Tet holiday

· January 19, 2021 ·

Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) recently issued Directive No.15 on the implementation of measures to ensure essential consumer goods are available during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday and to stabilise the market. The Departments of Industry and Trade nationwide have been ordered to outline production and business plans while making evaluations on the supply and demand of essential items, so as to make a timely response to prevent a shortage of goods or price hikes during Tet. They should recommend the provincial People’s Committees set up plans to stock shelves for the holiday or in case of epidemic, as well as join hands with branches of the State Bank of Vietnam to help businesses access preferential loans to produce essential goods for the holiday. They have been asked to coordinate with the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and competent agencies to keep a close watch on weather and disease developments and to assess … [Read more...] about MoIT working to ensure supply of goods during Tet holiday
