PANO - Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has approved a festival named “Book Road” to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The Book Road Festival is designed as an open and wide garden of books along Mac Thi Buoi Street, near flower street of Nguyen Hue from January 31st to February 6th. This first Book Road Festival during the Lunar New Year, is hoped to create a new space for entertainment for the locals and to promote the reading culture as well as to popularise the City’s tourism. New US-Vietnam Cooperation Center inaugurated in Hanoi
The center will be a platform for educational and cultural programming, research support, and academic services. The new US-Vietnam Cooperation Center has officially come into operation after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), 69 Chua Lang Street, Hanoi. Speaking at the opening ceremony on May 25, US Ambassador Marc Evans Knapper said the center joins over 600 other American Spaces around the world, which encourage open dialogue and build bridges of understanding by serving as study centers for students and communal spaces for those interested in American culture and values. The famed river bridges of the Iranian city of Isfahan are a beloved tourist draw -- but much of the time their stone arches span just sand and rocks, not water. Sitting on a quay with two friends, 60-year-old Jalal Mirahmadi gazed with melancholy at the riverbed, which became the site of a farmers' protest late last year. "When I was a child, the water flowed under the arches of the bridge and sometimes overflowed to spill into the surrounding streets," he sighed.
