About 150,000 jubilant Real Madrid fans flocked to the city's central Cibeles fountain on Saturday to join the players for a celebration of their record-extending 35th LaLiga title which was clinched with a 4-0 home win against Espanyol. The supporters started gathering around the central landmark where the club usually celebrate their successes almost an hour before the end of Saturday's game, which Real won easily with two first-half goals by Rodrygo spurring them on. Traffic restrictions were put in place as early as Friday while a stage was built around the fountain where the players on an open-top bus traditionally join the fans coming from the Santiago Bernabeu to continue the party. Vietnam’s frozen sapodilla fruit promoted in Australia
The event was occasioned by the first time that a major shipment of frozen sapodilla from Vietnam has been exported to the Australian market. Consul General of Vietnam in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia Nguyen Dang Thang said as Vietnam and Australia have brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control, bilateral trade has resumed and grown robustly. Farm produce exports of Vietnam to Australia in the first quarter of 2022 surged more than 30 percent against the same period last year. Two-way trade surpassed 12.4 billion USD in 2021. In addition to fresh agricultural products that already win the heart of Australian consumers such as longan, mango and dragon fruit, Vietnam is also looking to introduce its processed and frozen farm produce to Australia so as to increase export values and diversify markets. Cooperation between Vietnamese localities, Australia’s NSW expected to grow further
During his visit on May 4 and 5, Thanh paid a courtesy visit to NSW Governor Margaret Beazley, who stressed that NSW attaches importance to cooperation with Vietnamese localities. The Governor also agreed to coordinate with the Vietnamese side in celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of Australia-Vietnam diplomatic ties in 2023, saying she is willing to welcome Vietnamese high-ranking delegations and will visit Vietnamese localities soon to boost the bilateral comprehensive cooperation. In reply, Thanh said he hopes that NSW will soon implement an action program to realize the 2019 memorandum of understanding on cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City, and consider expanding collaboration with other localities of Vietnam. Vietnam can overlook China fishing ban in South China Sea: Prof. Thayer
The Professor said China has violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel Islands and Exclusive Economic Zone, including the Gulf of Tonkin. Vietnam is fully within its international rights to not only protest China’s annual fishing ban but to disregard the ban entirely, said Prof. Carl Thayer, a prominent expert on the South China Sea disputes.
