(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened a four-day law-making session in Hanoi on August 15, with 11 draft laws, ordinances and resolutions to be tabled for discussion. The draft laws include the Law on Petroleum (amended), the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control (revised), the Law on Inspection (amended), the Law on Implementation of Democracy at Grassroots Level, and the law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Radio Frequencies. HCMC encountering difficulty hiring arts teachers for secondary schools
Candidates for the teacher employment process for the 2022-2023 school year. Being the first year running the new 2018 General Education program for grade 10, HCMC needs 30 teachers for Arts and Music subjects. However, after the first round of testing general knowledge and foreign language performance, only 3 teachers passed to enter the second round of testing the professional skills. To temporarily address this shortage, Principal of Trung Vuong Senior High School in District 1 shared that her school will sign contracts with visiting Arts teachers. She and other principals are considering the method of sharing Arts and Music teachers among schools in the same group to serve the demands of students. Apartment buildings near collapse in northern Vietnam city
An apartment building on Da Nang Street in Van My Ward of Ngo Quyen District comprises 1,288 apartments housing more than 4,200 people. Built between 1975 and 1980, the building has been seriously downgraded. Every time there is a storm, local authorities must evacuate residents. Hai Phong has 178 apartment buildings, hosting 7,000 households, that are in so poor conditions that they need to be demolished. The city's Department of Planning and Investment earlier this month invited bidding into 10 new apartment blocks that are expected to accomodate nearly 4,500 households from the dilapidated buildings. The walls of one building have grown mossy and peeled. Of the 10 buildings, each rising five stories, some blocks have been classified as dangerous, which means residents must be moved out. Quang Ngai needs VND4 trillion for North-South Expressway site clearance
The central province of Quang Ngai has asked the Ministry of Transport to provide VND4.2 trillion (USD181.03 million) in funding for the North-South Expressway project site clearance. The 60-kilometre section running through Quang Ngai Province is part of the 88-kilometre sub-project linking Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh. The site clearance will affect roughly 2,000 households, including 1,000 that need to be relocated. Quang Ngai has asked the Ministry of Transport to provide VND4.2 trillion in funding for the North-South Expressway project site clearance. According to the provincial people’s committee, around VND4.2 trillion needs to be used for site clearance. Of the sum, VND1.4 trillion is for this year. Quang Ngai has built 23 resettlement areas with a total area of 121 hectares so far. The province will need to spend VND40 billion for relocating 214,000 graves.
