The resort, around 15 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport in the southern island, opened its in April. It features 302 suites and villas, six restaurants and bars, swimming pools overlooking Long Beach, one of the most beautiful on Phu Quoc, next to a UNESCO-recognized world biosphere reserve. Foreign tourist number in H1 recovers to 7 pct of pre-pandemic levels
The figure grew 6.8 times against the same period last year when Vietnam still maintained entry restrictions, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). Most visitors arrived by air, accounting for over 87 percent of the total, up 9.4 times against the same period of last year. Vietnam's tourism recovery this year has been driven mainly by Asian visitors who account for nearly 65 percent of total foreign arrivals, or 392,000. Officials said the lifting of entry restrictions and resumption of regular flights to over 20 international markets have boosted the country's tourism recovery. Many of Vietnam's biggest cities have witnessed a tourism boom after nearly two years. The number of tourist arrivals to Hanoi in the January-June period increased by three times year-on-year to 8.61 million, including 211,000 foreigners. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's southern metropolis, received 478,000 foreign tourists, up 100 percent. Starting March 15, the country allowed … [Read more...] about Foreign tourist number in H1 recovers to 7 pct of pre-pandemic levels
Vietnam is not fully open to tourists
"Vietnam is open to countries that can obtain an electronic visa and countries that are exempt from visa only. But not for all countries of the world." amer_live_83 "The 3-month multi-entry visa is still not available." Sgutieres "To this day it is absolutely incomprehensible to us that there are no tourist visas that allow us to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days. Isn't Vietnam interested in us wealthy retirees who want to escape the whole winter in Europe or America? We are happy to show proof of income and bank statements so that Vietnam issues long-term visas for pensioners to us. The cold winter in our countries lasts more than 30 days. E-visas are not sufficient for us." peter.w.zimmermann "The requirement for health insurance is a restriction because not everyone can buy health insurance. For others it is an unnecessarily expensive way to cover health costs and it would discourage a visit to Vietnam." Tayruong "Why do we then need to walk around with already … [Read more...] about Vietnam is not fully open to tourists
Việt Nam among few countries totally re-opening international tourism
Foreign tourists on the express boat trip between Đà Nẵng City and Lý Sơn Island. — VNA/VNS Photo HÀ NỘI — UNWTO's Destination Tracker tool showed that 52 countries have fully reopened their borders to foreign tourists as of June 17, and Việt Nam is one of only four in the Asia-Pacific, said Harry Hwang, executive director of the Asia-Pacific region for UNWTO. The executive director made the announcement at a tourism conference held in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on June 23-26, the Government Portal reported. The Asia-Pacific region is recovering tourism slowly, because many source markets have not yet fully reopened. Experts predict that the recovery prospects of the Asia-Pacific region would also be slower, maybe taking until 2024 to return to pre-pandemic levels. In Việt Nam, foreign tourists do not need to submit health declarations before entry while the domestic tourism market is also witnessing a strong recovery post reopening, said Hà Văn Siêu, deputy head … [Read more...] about Việt Nam among few countries totally re-opening international tourism
Vietjet to start 7 new international routes from Da Nang
There would be four to seven weekly flights on each route -- to Singapore, South Korea’s Busan and India’s New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore -- the airline announced at a business forum late last week. Nguyen Thanh Son, deputy chairman of Vietjet, said the direct services are expected to boost tourism and investment in Da Nang as Vietnam fully reopens after Covid-19. In 2019 Vietjet was the first carrier to fly to India, one of Vietnam's fastest growing tourism markets before the pandemic. Da Nang, with its beautiful beaches and other stunning tourist sights, expects to receive 180,000 foreign visitors this year. In 2019 there were 3.5 million foreign visitors. Vietnam has allowed quarantine-free entry since March 15 and resumed visa exemption for South Koreans. It has also removed Covid testing requirements. … [Read more...] about Vietjet to start 7 new international routes from Da Nang
EU supporting comprehensive implementation of the EVFTA
Peter Bernhardt, team leader of the ARISE+ Vietnam project Since coming into force in August 2021, the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has become an effective tool for boosting trade ties between the EU and Vietnam. What should Vietnam pay attention to in order to benefit more from this deal? I agree that the overall picture of EVFTA performance in this starting period, where exporters and government authorities from both sides have to adapt to the new situation, looks definitely promising. The EVFTA is the most ambitious FTA that the EU has ever signed with a developing country. The deal will mutually lift about 99 per cent of the tariffs within 10 years. Duty was lifted from 65 per cent of EU exports to Vietnam and 71 per cent of Vietnamese exports to the EU, immediately after the EVFTA came into effect. As most Vietnamese exporting products are consumer products, the real challenge Vietnam exporters will face to comply with EU consumer protection regulations is … [Read more...] about EU supporting comprehensive implementation of the EVFTA

Vietnam is only behind India (86 percent), according to the Travel Confidence survey by American online travel agency Booking.com that polled 11,000 travelers in 11 countries and territories across the region between April and May. China, one of the few places in the world sticking to a zero-Covid policy, came third, followed by Australia and New Zealand. The survey found 62 percent of Vietnamese tourists plan to make one to two trips this year and 45 percent wish to visit famous tourist destinations near Vietnam with a three-to-eight-hour flight time. A total 82 percent of surveyed Vietnamese respondents said they felt happy as Vietnam reopened its border to international tourism and lifted most Covid travel restrictions. The biggest concern of Vietnamese travelers for now is high travel costs (53 percent), quarantine rules (36 percent), the possibility of contracting Covid (32 percent) while traveling and suddenly changing Covid entry regulations (31 percent). ‘Vietnamese Messi’ moves to Ligue 2 side Pau FC: media
Vietnamese star midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai left for France on Monday morning after L’Équipe reported that he is on the verge of signing for Ligue 2 outfit Pau FC. Dubbed the 'Vietnamese Messi,' Quang Hai is expected to undergo a medical check-up upon his arrival in France ahead of signing an initial two-year contract, with the option to extend for a further third year, according to the L’Équipe ’s report on Sunday. If the deal is concluded, he will become the first Vietnamese footballer to be contracted to a French professional club. Pau FC’s decision to sign Hai is two-fold -- scouts believe in the player’s potential but the deal is also considered to be a marketing coup as he has 800,000 Instagram followers and 2.5 million fans on Faceboo, the French sport newspaper commented. The move is expected to attract major attention to Pau from Southeast Asia, it added. Vietnamese star midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai is pictured ahead of his departure for France at Noi … [Read more...] about ‘Vietnamese Messi’ moves to Ligue 2 side Pau FC: media
The Local Game: Just what is going on with Nguyễn Quang Hải’s transfer?
Nguyễn Quang Hải’s next destination is still a mystery. Photo baogiaothong.vn Peter Cowan Who doesn’t love a good transfer saga? While it may feel like football is now a 24/7, 365 day a year sport, there are in fact lulls in the beautiful game’s calendar. Transfer intrigue can often be a great way to fill in the interminable gaps between real football matches but the saga centred around Vietnamese football at the minute is one I could do without. Nguyễn Quang Hải left Hà Nội FC back in April, ostensibly to sign for a European club, and yet as June draws to a close, he still remains unsigned. Over the past few months various outlets have reported that the pint-sized playmaker is close to signing with Austrian, Swiss and now French clubs. Hải has been linked with no less than four clubs in the latter country’s Ligue 2, with breathless reports noting that he has his visa and is only awaiting a medical checkup. Again, transfer sagas can be great … [Read more...] about The Local Game: Just what is going on with Nguyễn Quang Hải’s transfer?
