Hanoi’s smart city project needs careful planning: Experts

The Hanoitimes - Hanoi will focus on researching, applying, and developing sustainable smart urban planning. Mr. Ky Anh said that the above-mentioned limitation is due to insufficient application of information technology which has only helped the city monitor the quantity, status and administrative procedures of the planning projects. Given these shortcomings, more than ever, accelerating the development of smart cities and the application of new technologies in Industrial Revolution 4.0 to urban planning and management is imperative for Hanoi today. Sumitomo wants to speed up smart city project in Hanoi

The Hanoitimes - The smart city project in Dong Anh district of Hanoi has been implemented for the capital city’s socio-economic development. Sumitomo wants to speed up its smart city project in Hanoi, President cum CEO of Sumitomo Corp Masayuki Hyodo said at a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on December 10. At the meeting, Masayuki Hyodo pledged to work harder to build the smart city in northern Hanoi for the capital city’s socio-economic development. Photo: Thuy Linh The CEO of Sumitomo Corp added that during the visit he wanted to get updated on the progress of the project that is jointly invested by Hanoi-based BRG Group. In addition, he proposed adjustments to the project to meet approval schedule and upcoming implementation. For his part, Chung emphasized his support for the project, and informed that the procedures of planning adjustments have been submitted to the Hanoi government and are being implemented in accordance with Vietnamese regulations. The municipal government agreed with specific contents of planning and adjustments made by architects and experts, Chung said. He noted that site clearance in the project area has been urgently and effectively deployed, disbursement for the first phase of the project is expected to be completed before Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The Hanoi mayor also affirmed that the land use price in the first phase of the project in 2020 will remain stable. Singapore willing to share experiences in smart city development with Hanoi

The Hanoitimes - Hanoi will tighten cooperation with Singapore in various fields to promote the two countries’ good relationship. Singapore stands ready to share experiences in smart city and greenery development with Hanoi. Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Catherine Wong Siow Ping made the statement at the meeting with Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue on January 19. Ambassador Catherine Wong Siow Ping noted that despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Singapore is still Vietnam's largest investor, which proves the faith of Singaporean investors in Vietnam and that they will continue to invest in creative industries in the country. Congratulating the ambassador for successfully completing her term in Vietnam, Mr. Hue expressed his delight at the good relationship between Vietnam and Singapore, especially in trade exchange, investment cooperation and tourism.
