The annual event, held by the Spouses of Delegates of Member States, aims to strengthen ties between member countries and raise funds to support the U.N.’s activities and humanitarian projects. This year's bazaar saw nearly 100 booths showcasing handicraft products and traditional cuisines of U.N. member countries. The Vietnamese mission brought ceramic, lacquer, brocade and silk products to the event, along with traditional dishes like spring rolls, banh ran vung (sesame donut), che dau xanh cot dua (sweet green bean soup with coconut milk), and iced milk coffee to the event. According to Dang Hoang Giang, head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the U.N., joining the event will help promote the good values of the country and people of Vietnam to the international community, especially the diplomatic missions in New York. (Photo: VNA) Prague (VNA) – The Slovak Government on June 7 officially recognised the Vietnamese community as the country’s 14th ethnic minority group and approved regulations for the community. Following the Government’s resolution, the Vietnamese community will have representatives at the Committee on Ethnic Minorities and Ethnic Groups under the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, Ethnic Minorities, and Gender Equality. The community will be supported with financial resources from the Fund for Cultural Support of Ethnic Minorities and have the right to voice opinions about the fund. The Vietnamese Association in Slovakia sees the Slovak Government’s recognition as an opportunity to bring more benefits to the Vietnamese community. Although there is one more official competition day on June 9 at ASEAN Para Games 12, Vietnam is certain of the third place in the medal tally because it has left fourth-placed Malaysia far behind.
