Indonesian athlete hurls verbal abuse at Vietnamese SEA Games volunteers
Yeremia Rambitan, 22, runner-up in the men’s doubles contest, had finished the last day of the badminton tournament on May 22. The Indonesian badminton athletes were saying goodbye to Vietnamese volunteers in the northern province of Bac Giang when Yeremia allegedly laughed and used "inappropriate language" in a loud voice. The incident was livestreamed on social media, the Indosport reported. Yeremia explained that he had said things in jest, but he still faced a backlash from the Indonesian community. The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) issued an official statement regarding the incident Thursday, with general secretary Muhammad Fadil issuing a warning to Yeremia. Int’l, Vietnamese stars join hands for bear protection campaign
The Vietnam Bear Rescue Center and Animals Asia launched a #NoBearLeftBehind campaign on Wednesday with the goal of rescuing all bears held in captivity throughout Vietnam and putting an end to the practice of bear bile collection. American actress Tara Buck, American actress and former fashion model Torrey Devitto, American television actress Marina Squerciati, Australian TV star Josh Packham, and Vietnamese actress and model Tang Thanh Ha participated in the campaign launch. Vietnamese tech retailers manage to survive Covid-19 pandemic
Many retailers in phone and electronics segments focus on developing online channels to survive during the coronavirus pandemic period. To survive adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic, many Vietnamese tech retailers have quickly boosted their sales on online platforms as their physical stores nationwide have to close until April 15 to comply with the prime ministerial directive stipulating measures to combat the pandemic. RoK permits visa-free entry for Vietnamese tourists to Yangyang
The Republic of Korea (RoK) is set to temporarily allow visa-free entry for tour groups from Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Mongolia through an international airport in Yangyang, according to Yonhap News Agency. In addition, group tours from Mongolia will be subject to a similar visa-waiver programme starting from October 1. Yonhap noted that the programme aims to boost local tourism and the regional economy of Gangwon province.
