Festival preserves values of Vietnamese craft villages
At the press conference (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Craft Villages Festival 2023 will take place in Hanoi from October to November to preserve and promote the values of traditional craft villages, the organising board said at a press conference on September 26. The event will be co-organised by the Department of Cooperatives and Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), and the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. A wide range of activities are on schedule, including a ceremony to honour excellent craftsmen, an opening ceremony, an art programme, an international exhibition introducing craft products and those under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme, and an international workshop on preservation and development of craft villages. Vietnamese firm secures massive funding for green projects from Australian finance provider
Sydney-based commercial finance provider Acuity Funding and Tin Thanh Group on Monday concluded a deal in which the former would provide US$6.4 billion for the latter's green projects in Vietnam and the U.S.. As per the deal, Acuity Funding will pour $1 billion into four biomass power plants and thousands of hectares of grain cultivation in the central and southern regions of Vietnam. These facilities will be located in Da Nang City, Kon Tum Province, and An Giang Province, with a total capacity of 165MW. Acuity Funding also pledged some $1.7 billion for the Vietnamese firm’s project to build a truck service and retreading factory in South Carolina, the United States. The facility will serve over one million trucks in the U.S. to reduce gas emissions, save costs, and advance green energy transition. Vietnamese youth suffer from overthinking, anxiety
Thanh Tung dropped his major in marketing after pursuing it for a year and realizing it was not the right path for him. But for several months after switching majors, he’d been suffering from anxiety and insomnia over the decision. "I went to bed late, woke up at around 3-4 a.m., and could not go back to sleep until the morning. I had negative thoughts and cried a lot." The young man said he worried that his new major was just another "wrong decision." He felt like he didn’t have the energy to do anything other than lie down and surf his social media feeds. The life expectancy of men and women in Vietnam ranks fifth and second, respectively, in Southeast Asia but Vietnamese people have to live with diseases for a longer time than those in other regional countries, for 10 years on average, according to the World Health Organization and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. The World Health Organization reported that Vietnamese people’s average life expectancy increased to 73.7 years before inching down to 73.6 in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extended time they spend suffering from diseases significantly affects their quality of life. There are three key reasons for the prolonged illnesses of the Vietnamese people, namely nutrition, lifestyle, and environmental factors, according to experts.
