From May 24 to June 30, the Vietnam Private Sector Competitiveness Enhancement Project (USAID IPSC), has organised a 5-week training course called “E-commerce – a must in Industry 4.0”, as part of its cross-cutting market expansion support package for Vietnamese businesses. At the end of the course, participants attended the event “Connecting business with domestic and international e-commerce platforms” to learn from successful, real-world experiences from e-commerce platforms including Amazon Global Selling and Shopee. According to Nguyen Thi To Uyen, head of the building business management capacity at USAID IPSC, the project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with the support of the Ministry of Planning and Investment as the government partner. Vietnamese companies regain control of cashew nut containers in suspected scam in Italy
In February, through the brokerage company Kim Hanh Viet, Vietnamese enterprises signed contracts with some Italian firms to export 100 containers of cashew nuts to Italy. Detecting a risk of a scam, the enterprises halted their shipments. However, they still lost control of 35 containers worth about $7 million due to a loss of the original documents. After a few months, 30 out of the 35 containers have now been shipped back to Vietnam or were sold to other clients. The Vietnamese side continued to work with regulatory bodies to obtain the remaining five containers that were still stuck at an Italian port. On May 27, the civil court of Larino issued a decision to return the ownership of three out of the five containers to Vietnam. On June 15 and 16, the Napoli Economic-Financial Police and the Genoa Port Military Police made a decision to return the last two containers. 90-95% of goods on the shelves of major supermarkets in Hanoi such as Co.opmart, Vinmart and Hapro are made in Vietnam (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese commodities have made up 90% of goods sold in retail outlets owned by domestic enterprises and 60-96% of foreign supermarkets in Vietnam, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), showing that more Vietnamese consumers are choosing Vietnamese goods. In traditional retail channels, the ratio of Vietnamese goods in markets and groceries is at least 60%. Particularly, since COVID-19 broke out, 76% of Vietnamese consumers tend to prioritise domestic products, especially those with guaranteed quality and health benefits.
