(Photo: Google) Hanoi (VNA) - The world’s most popular search engine Google paid tribute to Suong Nguyet Anh , the first female editor of the first women’s newspaper in Vietnam by posting a drawing of her on its homepage on February 1. On this day in 1918, the first publication of “Nu Gioi Chung” (Women's Bell) newspaper, where Nguyet Anh was editor in chief, was published. The drawing of Nguyet Anh on Google Doodle was illustrated by Hanoi-based guest artist Camelia Pham. In honour of one of her most popular poems based around apricot blossoms, the Doodle artwork incorporates apricot blossoms and an apricot colour palette. Nguyet Anh was born on March 8, 1864, in An Binh Dong village of southern Ben Tre province. Vietnamese team comes first at Southeast Asian Fencing Championship

The Vietnamese fencers brought home eight gold, six silver and five bronze medals. The tournament saw strong performance by such fencers as Phung Thi Khanh Linh, Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Minh Quang and Nguyen Minh Quyet. Four Vietnamese awarded New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards
Four Vietnamese were awarded the New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key on Monday. The four were among the 40 individuals from 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be presented with the prestigious prizes in a ceremony to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and the bloc. ASEAN is a ten-member organization which includes Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. The Vietnamese recipients of the awards are Mai Kieu Lien, CEO of dairy firm Vinamilk; Nguyen Xuan Vang, head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Education and Training; Tran Duc Lam, CEO of Tran Duc Homes Company; and diplomat Ton Nu Thi Ninh. Vietnamese athletes to receive 1 mln USD for Paris Olympic gold
The information was revealed at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 1 announcing the exchange of training program for Vietnamese athletes between the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) and the International Sports Strategy Foundation (ISF), and signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the VOC and Asong Invest Sponsorship Program for Vietnamese medalists at Olympics 2024. Dang Ha Viet, General Director of the General Sports Administration of Vietnam under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed the ISF’s support will create a “golden” chance for Vietnam to elevate its rankings in the regional, continental and world arenas. Viettel FC launches 2023 season
At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang affirmed that in 2022, Viettel FC players made great contribution to Vietnamese national football teams. Eight players of the club joined the national football team, accounting for 31 percent of the team. The number of young players to the U17, U19, and U21 teams was 27 players, accounting for 43 percent of the teams. Hip-hop concert organizer fined for steamy performances
The live concert, called KOSMIK, took place in November last year in HCMC with 5,000 fans. The authorities said the concert "used inappropriate outfits, words, sounds, images, movements, means of expression and performances that go against the fine customs and traditions of Vietnam," which violated government regulations. In the concert, rapper Binz performed with a foreign female dancer wearing a see-through, flimsy piece of lingerie. At the end of the performance, Binz poured beer on her body and the audience screamed in excitement. During a performance by singer Justatee, a dancer in a tight leather outfit gyrated on the piano. Then she stepped down, tied the singer's hands behind the chair, blindfolded him and made sexy movements with other male dancers.
