Ministries work to smooth out problems with new version of Vietnamese passport

At the MoFA’s regular press meeting on August 11, spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang updated the media on some countries’ refusals to recognise the new version of the passports since they don’t contain information about place of birth. Five Vietnamese skaters to compete at int’l figure skating competition
Five Vietnamese skaters will compete at the 2022 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating . Vietnam’s representatives include Tran Khanh Linh, 17; Nguyen Quang Minh, 17; Nguyen Linh Chi, 14; Phan Hoang Phuc, 18; and Le Dieu Huong, 15. Nguyen Quang Minh and his young sister, Linh Chi, were introduced to skiing early. They won a golden medal in the category of pairs at Skate Asia 2019 in Thailand. According to the Skating and Roller Federation of Vietnam, it is the first time that Vietnamese young skaters compete in a world figure skating competition. The Vietnam Skating Federation (VSF) was established in 2018. The federation has not organized many skating competitions and has not been developed yet. Ten tonnes of Vietnamese longan exported to Australia

Photo congthuong.vn Nearly 10 tonnes of Vietnamese longan were exported to Melbourne, Australia, on Wednesday, according to the Viet Nam Trade Office in Australia. Previously, dozens of tonnes of the tropical fruit were transported to the country. The office said it has coordinated with importers in the host country to organise an event to introduce Vietnamese longan to local consumers and overseas Vietnamese there. Vietnamese longan products exported to Southern Australia and Western Australia states by Red Dragon Co Ltd and distributed by 4Waysfresh continues to be popular among local consumers. 4Waysfresh said it is waiting for Red Dragon to transport more longan to Australia. Finland temporarily refuses new Vietnamese passports
The Embassy of Finland in Hanoi announced on August 11 that it has decided to stop recognising the new-style Vietnamese passports due to the lack of information regarding the place of birth of the holder. In a statement released on its Facebook page, the Embassy noted that the new passport “does not contain information of the place of birth of the passport holder, which is a requirement for personal identification and also for processing of Finnish visa/residence permit applications.” “The Embassy of Finland will not receive applications for visa/residence permit of holders of the new passport until further notice from competent authorities of Finland. The Embassy will provide information in case of any changes,” the announcement concluded. Cambodia to inspect Vietnamese noodles after EU warning

This move follows the European Union's warning to recall or return Vietnamese instant noodles including this dangerous substance, the office cited the Khmer Times as saying. According to Phan Oun, the Director General of the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Anti-Fraud (KPR), if these types of noodles were detected in the Cambodian market, the KPR would take action to collect them. The director said the General Department of Customs and Excise would direct local customs agencies to classify these items as risky goods.
