Vietnamese students were awarded four bronze medals and four Honourable Mention at the 23rd Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) recently held in Mongolia. (Photo: MOET) The four bronze medals went to two 12th graders of a high school in Bac Ninh province and two 11th graders in Hanoi city and Bac Giang province. The four Honourable Mention awardees were all the 12th graders in Hanoi, Thua Thien-Hue, Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong. Vietnam was one of the seven countries with all members winning the awards at the contest, according to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). The 23rd Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from May 21 to 29. APhO 2023 attracted 195 contestants from 26 countries and territories. Vietnam to have first virtual reality light park
A virtual reality light theme park will be developed in Ngu Hanh Son District of Da Nang City in central Vietnam based on South Korean technology, making it the first of its kind in the Southeast Asian nation. The park will be situated in a 60,000-square-meter ancient pine forest in a tourist area in the district. Ho Chi Minh City-based travel company Ben Thanh Tourist signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the park with two South Korean partners on Tuesday. The unique park is aimed at making tourism products in Da Nang, which is one of Vietnam’s popular destinations, more abundant. The digital tourism product, with light performances using Newto Company’s virtual reality technology, will bring new experiences and exciting entertainment activities to visitors. Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 likely to be held in Tay Mo ward
Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that while leading a delegation of the Ministry of National Defense to conduct a field survey at Regiment 916, Division 371, the Air Defense - Air Force Service and of the construction site of the Vietnam Museum of Military History in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district on May 26. The deputy defense minister said that Gia Lam and Hoa Lac Airports are two standby options. During the trip, the working delegation said that the venue for the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024 should be large enough and not be too far from central Hanoi, so as to better serve delegates and visitors. Vietnam should attract FDI for sectors in need: experts
As up to 22.5 percent of foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in Vietnam have a modest charter capital average of VND1-3 billion (US$42,602-127,806) each, the selection of FDI once again makes headlines and local economic experts agree that the country should attract such investment in sectors that it wants to develop. It is not easy to choose FDI projects based on the criteria of capital or technology, economists said. Vietnam should work out strategies to woo FDI in desired sectors and should not pay much attention to how much the investment is, said Dr. Pham Hung Tien, deputy director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Vietnam. Defense ministry honors military athletes participating in SEA Games 32
Attending the ceremony were leaders of the General Department of Political Affairs and the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong; Director of the General Department of Physical Training and Sports under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Dang Ha Viet, among others. Vietnam PM meets Ukraine President Zelensky on G7 summit sidelines
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for a little while at a session of the Group of Seven (G7) countries summit in Japan’s Hiroshima on Sunday. The meeting took place at the G7 session themed ‘Toward a Peaceful, Stable, and Prosperous World,' according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Refresher course on defense journal for Lao military officers concluded
Addressing the concluding ceremony, Major General Ta Quang Chuyen, Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense Journal, held that for over two weeks, trainees and lecturers completed the set targets with good outcomes. The Lao officers learnt and shared experience on the organization and operation of the National Defense Journal as well as journalistic and publishing activities. They also visited and shared experience on writing dissemination articles with some Vietnamese military units.
