Logo marking 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic ties announced

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Belgian Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony in Hanoi on March 22 to announce the official logo marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic ties this year. Speaking at the event, Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van den Bossche said the logo design contest for the occasion was open for Vietnamese designers and young artists. Through various media channels, the organising board received 130 entries. The winning logo was designed by Ly Khanh Linh, a 22-year-old student from Graphic Design Faculty at FPT University. It was inspired by famous cultural heritages of both countries with the hope of conveying the message of cultural exchange and friendship. Vietnam’s Dien Bien to close airport for 8-month expansion project
Vietnam's Ministry of Transport has issued a decision to temporarily shut Dien Bien Airport in the namesake northern upland province for eight months for an upgrade and expansion, starting from mid-April. The airport, located in Thanh Truong Ward in Dien Bien Phu City, will be closed from April 15 to December 17 this year. The current Dien Bien Airport was restored from Muong Thanh Airport, which was constructed by the French. The airport has a runway which is 1,830 meters in length and 30 meters in width, three aprons, and a passenger terminal that was built in 2004 and has an annual capacity of 300,000 passengers. Due to the short runway and simple landing systems, Dien Bien Airport only serves ATR 72 turboprops and Embraer 190 jets, which can transport a maximum 114 passengers. Finland aims to attract high-quality human resources from Vietnam
Vietnam is one of the four countries from which Finland is aiming to attract high-skilled personnel through a talent-seeking program that has been introduced in Ho Chi Minh City. The Commercial Section of the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam held a conference on Tuesday in Ho Chi Minh City to debut the Talent Boost program, which helps seek high-quality human resources from Vietnam, as well as from Brazil, Turkey, and India. The program was presented by a Finnish delegation involved in education and work, including Laura Lindeman, senior director and head of work in the Finland Unit at Business Finland, a government organization for innovation funding and trade, travel and investment promotion. Laos suspends pork imports from Vietnam

According to the announcement, Laos will suspend the import of pork, including live pigs and processed products, from Vietnam. Relevant units will monitor illegal import at international, local and international border gates and international airports. Additionally, pork that has been smuggled or illegally imported into Laos must be destroyed. In 2020, Laos suspended the import of pork from China and Thailand after detecting seven outbreaks of African swine fever with 973 dead pigs in Salavan province. Vietnamese boxer Nguyen Thi Tam beat Botswana athlete Modukanele Lethabo Bokamoso in the Round of 16 of the 2023 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in India on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals. With a height advantage, Tam showed a preemptive strategy. She scored an almost absolute point in each of the first two rounds of Tuesday’s showdown. In the third round, Lethabo Bokamoso appeared to be physically weaker and even kissed the canvas once. In the end, Tam won 5-0, including four rounds with absolute points of 30. Her opponent in the quarterfinals is Spain’s Fuertes Fernandez Laura, who ranked ninth in Europe in 2022. The fight will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday (Vietnam time). Dragon fruit export turnover reaches 47 million USD
Export turnover of Vietnamese dragon fruit is expected to top 1 billion USD in 2023./. Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced that the country's total export value of dragon fruit so far this year topped 47 million USD, a fall of 48.7% compared to the same period las year. The fruit has been exported to more than 40 countries and territories with China, India, the US, Thailand and the Netherlands being the biggest import ers. However, in the first two months of 2023, its export saw a slump in some markets such as the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan with decreases of 25.9% and 35.4%, respectively year-on-year.
