The Hanoi chapter of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association will boost communications to raise awareness of the public of the bilateral friendship. The fifth congress of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA)'s Hanoi chapter on August 10 agreed to further contribute to consolidating and fostering friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries as well as between the capital city and Cambodian localities. For the 2022-2027 tenure, delegates said the chapter's operation will be overhauled to deepen Vietnam-Cambodia and Hanoi-Phnom Penh relationship. EU vows to support State Audit Office of Vietnam in reaching int’l standards
Hanoi (VNA) - Ambassador Giorgio Aliberti, head of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, has stressed the EU’s commitment to technical assistance for the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV), to enable it to access and utilise international standards while helping Vietnam strengthen its governance system. After successfully holding WIMT for the first time in 2019, 18 members of the Indonesian Motor Association travelled across five countries – Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam – starting on July 18. An AO-infected girl at school (Photo: VNA) Bac Lieu (VNA) – The Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin of the southern province of Bac Lieu handed over 55 gifts to local AO/dioxin victims during its gathering on August 10, on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of AO disaster in Vietnam (August 10). On the occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to individuals who had made remarkable contribution to joint efforts to ease AO pain. Speaking at the event, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Thi Ai Nam asked the association to work closely with departments and agencies to raise public awareness of the AO/dioxin consequences on human and environment. Textile and apparel firms increasingly going green
According to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), greening the textile and apparel sector has become a global trend that local firms must follow to reach sustainable development targets and scale up export into key markets like the EU and United States. It would be particularly significant as new-generation free trade agreements with Vietnam’s engagement all feature the commitments for environmental protection and emission reduction, Vitas stated. This would require firms to invest in cutting-edge production technology which also entails mounting challenges. “Funding is a big issue, particularly as 90-95 per cent of units in the textile and apparel sector are of small and medium size,” said Truong Van Cam, Vitas’ deputy chairman.
