The article cited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand’s report prepared by the Embassy in Hanoi as saying between 2016 and 2021, Vietnam led ASEAN in terms of growth per capita. This growth rate is higher than that of other major ASEAN markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, or the Philippines Trade Commissioner Joseph Nelson said Vietnam is a "frontier market" presenting new opportunities, and challenges, to Kiwi exporters looking to diversify. Travel promotion “Rediscover Vietnam” held in Australia

Vietnam enjoys trade surplus of 710 million USD in six months

Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 710 million USD in the first six months of 2022, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported on June 29. In the period, the domestic economic sector suffered trade deficit of 15.97 billion USD, while the foreign-invested sector saw trade surplus of 16.68 billion USD. In June, import-export turnover is estimated at 32.65 billion USD, up 5.6% over the previous month. Conference reviews Vietnam-Guangdong cooperation

Opening the conference, the eighth of its kind, Deputy FM Hieu expressed joy at the positive developments in the Vietnam-China relationship in general and between Vietnamese ministries, localities and Guangdong in particular. Vietnam’s CPI up 2.44% in six months

Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) in the January – June period rose by 2.44% year-on-year while its core inflation edged up 1.25%, the General Statistics Office ( GSO ) reported at a press conference on June 29. The CPI was up 2.96% in the second quarter, and 3.37% in June alone, compared to the same periods last year. GSO General Director Nguyen Thi Huong attributed the CPI hike to the increase in prices of essential consumer goods and services, materials for production and transportation costs. According to the GSO, the world commodity market in the January – June period continued to witness many fluctuations and was influenced by economic and political factors. Vietnam to establish industrial environmental index

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has called for the implementation of an industrial environmental index in Vietnam, according to Le Thanh Quan, head of MPI's department of economic zone management. Quan said the establishment of environmental standards in more than 400 industrial parks and 18 economic zones across the country was to play a significant role in resolving environmental issues, reducing waste and achieving sustainable development. The MPI had been gathering data and feedback in preparation to set up Vietnam's industrial environmental standards. EDPR acquires two solar projects in Vietnam

The projects are located at the Thuan Bac District of Vietnam, having started operations in 2020 under a 20-year PPA at US$93.5/MWh. This transaction is expected to establish a long-term relationship between Xuan Thien Group and EDPR to jointly explore additional opportunities in the region contributing to accelerate EDPR growth prospects in APAC. With this transaction, EDPR doubles its operational capacity in Vietnam, strengthening its presence in the APAC region, a market where it entered in 2021 and has been since reinforced with the integration of Sunseap in February 2022. The transaction is subject to regulatory and other customary precedent conditions. Hyperion Investment Advisory Limited was Xuan Thien's advisor in the transaction. EDPR completed its S$1.1 billion acquisition of Sunseap Group earlier this year, establishing a clean energy hub for the Asia Pacific region that is headquartered in Singapore. Foreign tourist arrivals to Vietnam up 6.8 percent in first six months

More than 600,000 foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam in the first six months of this year, presenting a 6.8 percent year-on-year increase. In June alone, the number of international visitors was 236,700 thanks to the resumption of international flights. Of the total, the number of visitors arriving by air reached 523,900, accounting for 87 percent and up 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year; by road was 78,000, accounting for 13 percent. Revenue from accommodation and catering services in June saw a 20.9 percent increase compared to the previous year. Some localities got revenue growth, such as Can Tho increased 52.1 percent, Hanoi up 44.4 percent, Dong Nai up 22.6 percent, Quang Ninh up 19.2 percent, HCMC up 17.2 percent, Hai Phong up 12.6 percent, Binh Duong up 11.4 percent and Da Nang up 11.2 percent. Vietnam reaffirms support for UN Secretary-General’s appeal for global ceasefire
