Transition period sets path for UK export prospects

August 17, 2022 by vir.com.vn

Nguyen Canh Cuong, trade counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy to the United Kingdom, told VIR that from January 1, 2023, all Vietnamese exporters of industrial goods to Great Britain will have to have the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking on their products instead of the EU’s Conformité Européenne (CE) mark, which requires the manufacturer or importer to affirms the goods’ conformity with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards. “The UKCA is important to those who are exporting manufactured products to the UK and to those who are in charge of the manufacturing industry as well as of exporting its products in competent authorities,” Cuong said. “You have to get the CE mark on your products if you want to export your products to markets of the EU member states.” Cuong noted that the CE mark is still accepted in the UK, but will not be for long because the UK government has decided to implement its own regulation on conformity. “Can you discard this new … [Read more...] about Transition period sets path for UK export prospects

UK recognizes Vietnam’s new passport

August 3, 2022 by e.vnexpress.net

"The U.K. currently continues to recognize the new Vietnamese passport. Visa applicants and travelers (including those in transit) should ensure they are fully aware of, and regularly checked, the situation on acceptance of these documents for all their destination(s)," it said in a Facebook post. Before the U.K., France had said last week it would recognize Vietnam’s new passport and issue visas to holders "until further notice." Yet the French Embassy in Vietnam recommended that visa applicants holding the new Vietnamese passports exclude their duration of stay or transit time in Germany. They are also asked to update their information, as "the situation can change rapidly." On Tuesday, the Czech Republic became the third country not recognizing Vietnam's new passports after Germany and Spain. All three countries explained their refusal as the exclusion of birthplace information. It is still not clear if the Czech Republic would stop issuing visas for the new Vietnamese … [Read more...] about UK recognizes Vietnam’s new passport
