A lotus farm in the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture has recently attracted lots of visitors thanks to the beauty of the flowers that are now blooming. Over the past two weeks, the lotus farm at the academy, which lies some 20 kilometres from the centre of Hanoi has become a favourite destination for young people to visit and take photos with the blooming flowers. The farm covers 7.5 hectares and gathers some 60 varieties of lotus flowers brought from many areas in the country. For many Vietnamese people, lotus is considered the national flower that represents strength and purity. When the lotus blooming season arrives between late May and August, many people would try to come and enjoy the time with the flowers. Vietnam Football Federation announces new technical director
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Thursday announced that Japanese football expert Koshida Takeshi had joined the association earlier that day as technical director. Takeshi, who replaced predecessor Yusuke Adachi, also a Japanese national, was selected from a shortlist of candidates introduced by the Japan Football Federation (JFF). The JFF and VFF have developed a very close relationship over the past several years. Takeshi’s contract with the VFF will last for one year from June 1. Takeshi’s résumé includes nearly three decades of experience working with Japanese youth and adult football teams. He also holds a PRO Coach license. Prior to coaching, the now 63-year-old Takeshi was considered a big name as a player in the Japanese football scene. In 1993, Takeshi made the jump from playing to coaching. The country’s largest grape producing province has more than 1,000ha under the fruit and an annual output of 26,000-28,000 tonnes, according to its Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. It grows mostly two table varieties, Red Cardinal and NH 01-48, and the wine grape Syrah. On sunny days, their house in a cluster of rentals in Quyen District, Hai Phong, absorbs the heat from outside, making it unbearably hot. Hoa tried several ways of reducing the heat in her house, from pouring water onto the floor, to wiping the walls with a wet cloth, to opening every door and window. None seemed to work. The three-member family thus began seeking air-conditioned places outside the home to avoid sitting at home sweating and being uncomfortable. Both Hoa and her husband work at factories. Da Nang integrates map of public toilets into app
Tourists in central Da Nang City can now easily find the locations of public toilets thanks to the Danang Smart City app on smartphones. The city has integrated the 'free public WC' feature with the addresses of public restrooms in the city into the Danang Smart City app to facilitate residents and tourists, Tran Ngoc Thach, deputy director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, said on Friday. These free toilets are provided by local enterprises, restaurants, hotels, and eateries participating in the 'Comfort as Home' program. The locations of 294 toilets, including 228 in Hai Chau District and 66 in Son Tra District, have been featured in the app. The number of public toilets is expected to rise further in the coming time, Thach added.
