Vietnam aims at sustainable tourism development
(VOVworld)- A seminar on improving tourist accommodation in Vietnam was held in Can Tho city on Wednesday as part of the Mekong Delta’s Green Tourism Week 2015. Last year, Vietnam received 8 million foreign and 38 million domestic tourists. But the rapid development of accommodation has not matched with sustainable tourism development trends. Participants discussed ways to promote green tourism development and ensure the sustainable growth of tourist accommodation. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of the Vietnam Tourism Administration said: "The seminar discussed many useful lessons for businesses. It included the accumulated experiences of the tourist sector’s efforts in implementing the Vietnam Tourism Development Orientation until 2020 and Vision towards 2030. Visa waiver an effective lever for Vietnam’s tourism development
PANO - Visa exemptions are a lever for Vietnam to develop its tourism sector, said experts at a seminar entitled "Urgent measures to boost Vietnam tourism" in Hanoi on May 25th. Statistics showed that Vietnam has seen a sharp drop in international arrivals in the first four months of this year, forcing the tourism sector to hammer out measures to attract more tourists. Global economic recession and the slump in several currencies make travel more expensive, while the lack of co-ordination in promotion activities in individual countries and in the localities also affected tourism development. Thus, the seminar’s delegates pointed out that the visa waiver would be an important measure to improve Vietnam’s tourism numbers. Singapore has offered visa exemption for 158 countries and territories. The corresponding numbers of the Philippines and Malaysia are 157 and 155 respectively. Vietnam tourism 2007: possibly run ahead the yearly target
(CPV)- This was affirmed by Mr. Pham Tu, Deputy Director of VNAT when forecasting about the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in 2007. In the first six months, Vietnam picked up more than 2.1 million foreigners to Vietnam, an increase of 14.7 percent against the same period last year and reaching about 50 percent of the yearly target. The result showed that "we can possibly come ahead the yearly target of greeting 4-4.4 million foreign visitors this year." To prove the forecast, Mr. Pham Tu affirmed: "We are happy because in June, a low-point months for Vietnam tourism, we attracted about 330,000 foreigners for the first time. This is a positive sign marking a significant turning point for Vietnam tourism development. Thus, there is no reason preventing us finishing and exceeding the target for the whole of the year."
