Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) – All-level public and private educational institutions in Cambodia will be closed from April 20 to May 18 for the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games. Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports Hang Chuon Naron sent a document on the closure to all school rectors and directors of education departments in Phnom Penh and provinces. As many as 11,453 sport delegates from the ten ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste will compete in the upcoming games. The 32nd SEA Games will take place from May 5-7, featuring 37 sports, while the 12th ASEAN Para Games will be held from June 3-9, 2023, with 13 events. Viet Nam will provide training to medical staff and apply new techniques in the prevention, detection, and treatment of malaria. Vietnam's Ministry of Health (MoH) and PATH, a US-based nonprofit health organization, convened a conference this week to call for financial and human resources to prevent and control malaria, with the goal of successfully eliminating the mosquito-borne disease from the country by 2030. The goal is in line with the 2023 Plan for Malaria, Parasites and Insect Control and Prevention, as Vietnam has recently achieved remarkable results in preventing and controlling the dangerous tropical disease. The National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE) reported that over the past 30 years, malaria deaths in Vietnam have dropped from over 4,600 to only one death last year, and no malaria epidemic. In response to the growing crisis, the ministry has issued a directive to the people's committees of provinces and cities to implement preventative measures before the peak months of 2023. The directive urges localities to disseminate information on dengue fever and organise activities for the ASEAN Day of Dengue Prevention and Control. A VAMA representative said that the domestic car sales market is in a gloomy situation, and has been struggling like many other industries since 2020. “In order to stimulate market demand, we need strong enough policies like extending the payment of excise tax in 2023 and taking 50 per cent off the registration fee.
