Special ‘clothes shop’ under flight of stairs in northern Vietnam hospital
Medical workers at a general hospital of Trang Dinh District in Lang Son Province, northern Vietnam have made use of a space under a staircase to create a 'zero-dong clothing shop' which offers second-hand clothes to needy patients. Bui Thi Nu, a 66-year-old resident of Thach Anh District, Cao Bang Province recently took her husband to the hospital for treatment and was touched when she saw the 'shop' and was able to pick out clothing for her husband. “It’s so beautiful! I’m so surprised! The space is clean and there are few places like this. I’m excited. Thanks a lot! These clothes are really meaningful. Vietnam Airlines restarts air services between Hanoi and Beijing
Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has resumed its regular flights linking Hanoi and Beijing after a three-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline’s flight VN513 departed from Beijing at 3:30 pm and landed in Hanoi at 5.55 pm on Sunday. Before the resumption of the Beijing-Hanoi flight, Vietnam Airlines held a welcoming ceremony for the passengers on board at Beijing International Airport, with the participation of Vietnam and China's competent agencies and enterprises and over 100 passengers. The air carrier is operating the Hanoi-Beijing air route with a frequency of three round-trip flights a week. The airline will start increasing its frequency from mid-2023, while planning to open an air route connecting with Beijing’s Daxing International Airport. Vietnam saves 298,000 kWh during Earth Hour 2023

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – With lights turned off for one hour starting 8:30 pm on March 25 in response to the 2023 Earth Hour campaign, Vietnam saved 298,000 kWh of electricity equivalent to about 555.6 million VND (23,617 USD), according to the Vietnam Electricity (EVN)’s National Load Dispatch Center. Since the nation first joined the campaign in 2009, the average annual power output saved in the one hour was estimated at about 400,000 kWh. Last year, the figure was 309,000 kWh. Experts propose turning Vietnam’s plastic waste into economic resources
Domestic and foreign exports have proposed solutions to develop a circular economy in Vietnam, including ideas to turn the country’s plastic waste into economic resources. About 0.73 million metric tons of plastic waste was discharged into the ocean of Vietnam in 2022, the World Bank data showed. The current problem that Vietnam needs to solve when it comes to developing the circular economy is how to turn that huge amount of plastic waste into economic resources. The Embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, organized the Nordic Day 2023 with the theme ‘Green Nordic Solutions for Circular Economy and Waste Management’ on Wednesday and Thursday. Samsung rejects rumor of shifting smartphone production chain out of Vietnam
A rumor stating that Samsung is moving its smartphone manufacturing chain out of Vietnam to India is false, Samsung Vietnam Complex general director Choi Joo Ho told a recent meeting with the Thai Nguyen Province leaders. Choi affirmed that over the past 10 years of its operation in the northern province, Samsung has received much support and many incentives from the provincial government, departments, and locals. Therefore, the South Korean tech firm has constantly expanded its reach. Samsung Electronics Vietnam-Thai Nguyen got off the ground in March 2013, with total capital of US$2 billion. Golf tournament in Vietnam’s Vinh Phuc suspended over illegal gambling
The Vietnam Golf Association has issued an announcement on the suspension of a golf tournament, which was set to take place at Heron Lake Golf Course in Vinh Phuc Province, northern Vietnam, from March 23 to 25, following a sting which caught 22 participating golfers gambling. The announcement was sent to teams taking part in the VGA Union Cup 2023 golf tournament by the deputy secretary general of the association on Thursday. The golf tournament will be rescheduled for a future date, said the association. Sixteen golfers from two teams were originally scheduled to play eight matches in the tournament. Most of these golfers are entrepreneurs from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other localities. UNESCO continues fund for gender equality project in Vietnam
The "We are ABLE" project aims to strengthen the ability of children from ethnic minorities, especially girls, to overcome the challenges they face.
