Vietnam has made great strides in improving its living standard as it jumped 39 notches in the global quality of life index rankings in 2021, revealed CEOWORLD, the world’s leading business and trade magazine. Vietnam has greatly improved its living standards as it jumped 39 places to become the 62nd-best country worldwide for quality of life in 2021, according to a report by CEOWORLD . The Southeast Asian nation earned 78.49 points, ranking 62nd out of 165 countries and territories, registering a sharp improvement from its 101st position among 171 countries in 2020. It ranked seventh in the region, while Singapore took the lead with 87.64 points, followed by Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Singapore also held the 19th position in the global rankings. After a life spent hiding, Vietnamese burn victim steps into the spotlight with bakery
After suffering severe burns across his face as a child, Ngo Quy Hai, a 27-year-old from Vietnam’s Central Highlands, has managed to shed the physical and emotional burden of his injury and become the successful owner of Sunhouse Coffee – a well-known pastry shop in Plei Kan Town, Ngoc Hoi District, Kon Tum Province. Hai burned his face when he was just a few months old after falling out of a walker and landing face first on a boiling pot of porridge. His parents rushed him to Children’s Hospital No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City where he received medical treatment for almost two years. While doctors at the hospital were able to save Hai’s life, his injuries left him so scary that other children refused to play with him. Vietnam earned a score of 78.49 to rank 62 out of 165 countries and territories included in 2021 World’s Best Countries For Quality of Life recently released, moving up its ranking of 101st out of 171 countries in the previous edition. The ranking was determined based on 10 key categories: affordability, economic stability, family-friendly, a good job market, income equality, political neutrality & stability, safety, cultural influence, well-developed public education system and well-developed public health system. Each attribute was graded on a 100-point scale. Compared to Southeast Asia peers, Vietnam lags behind Singapore (19th place), Thailand (38th), the Philippines (39th), Malaysia (41st) and Indonesia (58th), though ranking above Myanmar (101st), Cambodia (111th) and Timor-Leste (149th).
