A family in Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam uses plastic boxes to raise crabs, a unique farming model with high financial returns. Pham Thanh Son, 39, lives with his family in Cuong Gian Commune, Nghi Xuan District, Ha Tinh Province where they are expected to make a fortune raising crabs in plastic boxes. Son spent several years raising crabs in a lake, but the high financial risks convinced him it was worth traveling to southern Vietnam to try his hand at raising the crustaceans in plastic boxes. The cost of living in Hanoi was the highest in Vietnam in 2022, followed by northern Quang Ninh Province and Ho Chi Minh City, according to a report released by the General Statistics Office on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive year that the capital has taken the top position in the country’s Spatial Cost of Living Index. Central Vietnam’s Da Nang and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province in the southern region ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. The Spatial Cost of Living Index 2022 also showed that Quang Tri Province in north-central Vietnam reported the lowest cost of living, followed by the Mekong Delta provinces of Tra Vinh, Ben Tre, and Soc Trang and the northern province of Nam Dinh. A fishing vessel has been captured for illegally transporting some 100,000 liters of diesel oil in the waters off Vietnam's southwestern region. Vietnam’s maritime police said on Wednesday afternoon that they stopped fishing vessel TG 92008 TS for an inspection after detecting suspicious signs. T.V.T., a 47-year-old native of An Minh District in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, was identified as the captain of the ship. T. admitted that the vessel was carrying nearly 100,000 liters of diesel oil with no invoices and legal documents proving its origin. After sealing the smuggled goods, the maritime police directed the ship to a port in Nam Can District in Ca Mau Province for further investigation. The maritime police in early March discovered and seized a vessel while it was transporting about 60,000 liters of diesel oil of unclear origin in the offshore area of the southwestern region of Vietnam. A three-year-old boy from Ca Mau Province, southernmost Vietnam was admitted to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City last week after being attacked by a rabid dog that injured his face and lips and tore half of his tongue. After receiving treatment at the Ho Chi Minh City-based hospital, T.N.D.K., 3, has regained stable health and has been allowed to return home, a local medical official in his hometown in Cai Nuoc District, Ca Mau said on Wednesday afternoon. “Currently, K. has returned home, but we still need time to assess whether his language ability development is normal or not,” the medical official said. According to initial information, while playing in front of his house, K. was suddenly attacked by a stray dog, which displayed symptoms of rabies, causing injuries to his face and lips and tearing half of his tongue.
