Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency, he emphasized that it is the first time Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Laos since he took office, and also the first time that Lao PM Sonexay Siphandone received a foreign leader after he was elected to the position on December 30, 2022. Those factors bring fresh air into the two countries, he said. During his 30-hour visit to Lao, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh co-chaired a ceremony to conclude the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022. The two PMs also co-chaired the 45th meeting of the Lao-Vietnam Inter-Governmental Committee and witnessed the signing ceremony of 10 cooperation documents. Vietnam keeper confident of AFF Cup final victory away from home
"The game today was amazing," Lam said after the match in Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium Friday night. "Looking at it from an optimistic point of view, I think 2-2 draw is a good result." According to the away goal rule, Thailand now have the advantage. Vietnam will need to win or earn a draw of at least 3-3 in the second leg to win the championship, while Thailand will only need a goalless or 1-1 draw. Lam said he believes in a triumphant result for Vietnam. "Together we will certainly win the second leg," Lam said. "I and everyone else are confident." The 2-2 draw on Friday ended Lam’s streak of six straight clean matches at AFF Cup 2022. The 30-year-old successfully blocked all scoring attempts from Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Myanmar in the group stage, and Indonesia in the semifinals. Vietnam opened the scoring on Friday night after center-back Que Ngoc Hai in an attack down the right flank crossed a great ball for Nguyen Tien Linh, who headed it in. But early into the … [Read more...] about Vietnam keeper confident of AFF Cup final victory away from home
Coach Park has made Vietnam a true team
I think he has done a wonderful job. Not just because of the winning of games and titles but for the manner he has done it in, and also how he has changed Vietnam football. Firstly he has survived the politics of coaching football in Vietnam. It is not easy for a foreigner to work in Vietnam. He understands the culture of the country, examples being the importance of Tet and the importance of family to a Vietnamese player. Also you have to manage the corruption in Vietnamese football and don't let anyone say there is no corruption. More importantly he has managed to survive two major obstacles for a foreign coach. The first is the negative media. No matter what the result of a game a journalist will ask "how can Vietnam get better?", "who made mistakes?", "why didn't we score more goals?" Some journalists are never happy and often start their questions with "people are saying," who are these people? They never name them. This negative media in turns influences the opinions of … [Read more...] about Coach Park has made Vietnam a true team

Vietnam keep AFF Cup title hope with late goal against Thailand in the final. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Both teams Vietnam and Thailand started the game slowly. Vietnam got the first shot with a long-range attempt by Nguyen Quang Hai , but it went wide. A mistake by Thailand's defence gave Pham Tuan Hai a chance to run down and finish from a tight angle, but it didn't hit the mark. In the 14th minute, Thailand made through ball in between Vietnam's centre-back and full-back, creating a chance for Adisak Kraisorn to face Van Lam, but his shot was stopped by the goalkeeper. That was Thailand's first shot on goal in the game. In the 20th minute, Thailand didn't play defensively, but when they lose the ball, the players dropped back quickly to support the defence. Vietnamese in Thailand expect AFF Cup victory as parting gift for Coach Park
"I believe Vietnam will win the championship with a one goal difference in the second leg," said Nhat Thieu, a 30-year-old employee at a Vietnamese firm in Bangkok. "Thailand will be on the offense, their usual playstyle, but it will also be a chance for Vietnam to showcase their defensive skills and counterattack plays." The final match will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Thieu said the first leg of the AFF Cup final, which happened Friday last week, was truly exciting, ending with a 2-2 tie. However, he said he was a bit disappointed to see Vietnam letting Thailand score. Thieu said the Monday night match would be a challenging one for Vietnam, as Thailand have a slight edge when it comes to skills, and they will be playing on their home turf. "Thailand have a stable mindset, and they always seem to be confident whenever they face off against Vietnam. They are more coordinated, elegant," he said, adding that Vietnam seemed to lack a bit of coordination during the first leg, and made … [Read more...] about Vietnamese in Thailand expect AFF Cup victory as parting gift for Coach Park
