Northwest Vietnam is benefiting from a project worth US$24 million to mainly develop community-based economic models. 9-year-old girl stuck between two walls in northern Vietnam rescued
P.P.A., a nine-year-old girl in Lao Cai City of the namesake northern mountainous province, was saved from a 25-centimeter gap between two houses on Friday. According to the Lao Cai Province Police, at about 4:15 pm, local residents detected the girl who got wedged between the walls of two houses in Kim Tan Ward, Lao Cai City after falling from the second floor of one of the two houses. Two vehicles and more than 20 firefighters and rescuers were later detached to the scene to save the girl. The gap between the two walls was determined to be 25 centimeters wide and have no exit. As a result, the girl could not escape from the gap herself. To pull the girl out of the gap, rescuers dismantled part of the walls. After nearly 30 minutes, the girl was saved. Cold air settles over northern Vietnam
The midlands and plains will see temperatures fall to 9-11 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. Northern Vietnam will see temperatures hovering around 16-19 degrees Celsius between January 16-19, with with an average daily temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius or less. High mountain regions are likely to get frost and snow, the center said. Temperature will rise slightly during the first few days of the Lunar New Year holiday, from Sunday next week, before falling again due to an intensifying cold air. U.S. weather forecaster AccuWeather said that Hanoi's temperatures would be between 18-30 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 11-21 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 10-15 degrees Celsius early next week, and 12 to 22 degrees Celsius by the end of the week. Northern Vietnam temperatures drop to zero degrees
Nine northern Vietnam localities saw temperatures dropping below 10 degrees, with the peaks of Mau Son Mountain in Lang Son dropping to 0 degrees, while other areas in Ha Giang, Vinh Phuc, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Bac Kan, Cao Bang and Dien Bien Provinces recorded temperatures of between 2-9 degrees, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. In Hanoi, temperatures were recorded at around 12-13 degrees, a drop of 5-7 degrees from Sunday. As a mass of cold air keeps exerting its effect on the region, the cold is expected to expand its reach. The cold front, with average daytime temperatures below 15 degrees, should last until January 18 in northern Vietnam and the northern parts of central Vietnam.
