The Hanoitimes - Vietnam`s Ho Chi Minh City has decided to invest nearly 360 million U.S. dollars in building a 3.4-km bridge, replacing an overloaded ferry and helping foster tourism, the municipal authorities said Tuesday. The four-lane Can Gio Bridge will be constructed 55 meters above Soai Rap River, linking the rural district of Can Gio with the inner city. The new bridge, plus upgraded streets nearby and future artificial beaches, will facilitate transport and help develop tourism in Can Gio, home to one of the world's biosphere reserves. Exhibition “Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam – France friendship” opens
On May 17, nearly 200 pictures and documents from throughout the revolutionary period went on display at an exhibition entitled "Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam - France friendship" organized by the Thua Thien - Hue provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ho Chi Minh Museum, Thua Thien - Hue branch. The pictures and documents at the exhibition were collected, taken and introduced by Ms. Dominique de Miscault, editor-in-chief of Vietnam Perspective Magazine. Ho Chi Minh City hires 13 int’l sporting experts
Ho Chi Minh City’s sporting government has invited 13 international experts to train its municipal squads, while also considering hiring world-class badminton players to practice with Vietnam’s number 1 Nguyen Tien Minh. Specifically, Filipino coaches were hired to train the swimming, volleyball, table tennis, shooting, and basket ball squads, while their Bulgarian counterparts took the helm at the aerobic and gymnastic teams. Experts from Russia were also invited to lead the fencing squad, while Ukrainian and Uzbekistani coaches are in charge of track-and-field. The municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism only signed one-year contract with the experts, and the deal will be subject to renewal annually, said Mai Ba Hung, deputy head of the department.
