Book of royal decrees donated to VN National History Museum
A copy book of royal decrees, which were issued by various kings of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), and reprinted on large size, has just been gifted to the National Museum of Viet Nam History. The decrees, which include nearly 100 royal notes that praise and promote people who made several contributions to the country, have been published and donated by HCM City-based historian Nguyen Khac Thuan and his wife Ly Thi Mai. The colour photos of the original royal decrees have been printed in a silk book that measures 81cm by 126cm and weighs 150kg. Thuan said the collection was just part of the royal decrees that he has collected over the past 70 years. The book also includes his translations and explanations for each royal note. Thuan said he had to write explanations for the royal decrees as many of them lacked some characters, while some did not include the names of the people the decrees were sent to. The Vietnam National Museum of History was officially launched on September 26, 2011, integrating the Vietnam History Museum and the Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution. These two museums were the first museums in Vietnam. The Vietnam History Museum was at 1 Trang Tien street in the 1926 building that previously housed Louis Fino Museum of the French School of the Far East. The Museum of the Vietnamese Revolution was at 25 Tong Dan street in a colonial building the Commercial Department of Indochina built in 1917. These two museum buildings, adjoining the Hanoi Opera House, make up an impressive architectural complex, which attracts a large number of tourists. Asian treasures on display at Vietnam History Museum
VietNamNet Bridge - An exhibition entitled "Asia-Colorful Culture" will open on October 8 at the Vietnam National Museum of History, displaying nearly 100 ancient treasures of many Asian countries like India, South Korea, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and China.
