On May 11, Ambassador of the EU to Vietnam Giorgio Aliberti and AFD Director in Vietnam Fabrice Richy signed an agreement to enhance cooperation to improve resilience to climate change and natural disasters in Vietnam, moving towards a “green future”. Under the agreement, the EU will provide a non-refundable aid of 20 million EUR for AFD. Via coordination with central and local authorities, AFD will call on the Water and Natural Resources Management (WARM) Facility to prepare and launch projects co-financed by AFD’s loans and Vietnam’s resources during the 2011-2029 period with total estimated capital of 200 million EUR. On June 6, Nguyen Van Hung obtained the two golds for the best weightlifting performance of 155kg and a total weight of 458kg after three successful lifts in the men’s 72kg event. The athletics team also secured an additional five golds on the day thanks to the outstanding performances of Vo Van Tung, Truong Bich Van, and Trinh Cong Luan. Nhu set two records at the two former events, clocking 41.50 seconds and 1 minute 51.77 seconds respectively. Para Games 12 in the women's 50m freestyle S7 event after clocking 36.46 seconds while her Cambodian runner-up Changtha Thoeun finished at 51.71 seconds. Hanoi police bust ring smuggling drugs from Europe to Vietnam
Police in Hanoi have arrested four suspects and seized more than 62kg of synthetic drugs, cracking down on a ring that smuggled drugs disguised as food and home appliances from European countries into Vietnam. The kingpin, 27-year-old Hoang Tien Dung, hailing from northern Hung Yen Province, was arrested during a coordination between the police of Hanoi and their colleagues in Hung Yen from May 4 to 7. To create a screen to hide his illegal drug smuggling, Dung set up an agency providing purified water and a night eatery in Hung Yen but used these facilities as the places to receive and deliver drugs, Hanoi police reported on Tuesday. Also detained with Dung were his two accomplices, Tran Van Tuan, 19, and Dao Ngoc Long, 35, both from Hung Yen. On the morning of November 30 last year, Minh, now 29, received an email from his employers at DoorDash, the largest online food delivery company in the U.S. The company announced that it was letting him go. Just a day earlier, Minh was still the leader of one of the company’s finance management team. When he received the email, Minh had already studied and worked in the finance field in the U.S. for over a decade. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, a master’s in data science, is a certified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), as well as a Certified Public Accountant.
