A low-pressure area in the East Vietnam Sea strengthened into a tropical depression early on Wednesday morning and is forecast to become a storm in the next two to three days. As of 7:00 am on Wednesday, the tropical depression was located 500 kilometers east of Vietnam's Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. The average wind speed was recorded at 40-50km per hour, while gusts reached up to 75km an hour. The tropical depression is expected to travel northwest in the next 48 hours and pick up strength. By 7:00 am on Friday, it will have been located around 350 kilometers northeast of Hoang Sa, packing winds of 50-60km per hour. It will continue traveling in the northwest direction in the next 48-72 hours and develop into a tropical storm. Vietnam Airlines plans to restore its entire flight network by the end of 2023
In the first six months of 2022, Vietnam Airlines has resumed flights to 14 countries and territories, including the UK, France, Germany, Australia, the US, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Lately, the airline has opened a new route to India and is preparing the necessary conditions to immediately reopen flights to China, Myanmar, and Russia when the conditions permit. The national carrier is expected to resume flights to Indonesia in July and key international routes to Japan, Korea, and Australia in November at the same flight frequency as in 2019. It hopes that it will be able to restore the entire international flight network, equivalent to that in 2019 by the end of 2023. East Sea low-pressure front forecasted to turn into storm
A low-pressure area that has appeared on the East Sea has been forecasted to grow into a storm in the days to come. As of Monday, the low-pressure area was situated in the south of the Philippino island of Luzon, according to the director of the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. It would become a tropical depression with a 40-60 percent probability of transforming into a storm between Wednesday and Saturday. By 7 am on Friday, the low-pressure area would be centred around 470 kilometres from the Paracel Islands with a wind speed of 40-60 kilometres per hour. The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has asked coastal localities from Quang Ninh to Ca Mau to actively respond to the low-pressure area. Delayed flights add to airport congestion
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi are increasingly congested these days. On Monday evening, VietJet Flight VJ149, scheduled to depart at 7 pm at Noi Bai for HCM City, was delayed until 10:30 pm. A passenger said that he had to cancel a tour along with his friend in HCM City due to the rescheduled flight. Spending five hours at the airports just to wait left him very tired. On Sunday, Vietnam Airlines Flight VN221 from HCM City to Hanoi was around two hours late. VietJet Flight VJ151 was four hours late, while, Bamboo Airlines Flight QH292 was delayed for one hour on June 24. Many other flights from Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat airports to different localities also suffered delays. Under the Laws on Civil Aviation, in cases where flights are delayed for 4-6 hours, airlines have to provide free food and drinks for passengers.
