In the final of Group III in southern Vietnam's Tay Ninh Province on Saturday, Vietnam faced Pacific Oceania. In the first match, Trinh Linh Giang played Clement Mainguy. Although Giang took the lead twice, he still let Mainguy come back to win 7-4 and 6-3, claiming the overall 2-0 victory. The second match saw Vietnam’s number one Ly Hoang Nam going up against Colin Sinclair. Last year, Sinclair also defeated Nam during their Group III clash. But things were different this time, as Nam quickly won 6-2 in the first set. Sinclair returned with power in the second set and won 6-3. In the third set, Nam showed great stamina and tenacity to win 6-3 and 2-1 overall. An apartment building on Da Nang Street in Van My Ward of Ngo Quyen District comprises 1,288 apartments housing more than 4,200 people. Built between 1975 and 1980, the building has been seriously downgraded. Every time there is a storm, local authorities must evacuate residents. Hai Phong has 178 apartment buildings, hosting 7,000 households, that are in so poor conditions that they need to be demolished. The city's Department of Planning and Investment earlier this month invited bidding into 10 new apartment blocks that are expected to accomodate nearly 4,500 households from the dilapidated buildings. The walls of one building have grown mossy and peeled. Of the 10 buildings, each rising five stories, some blocks have been classified as dangerous, which means residents must be moved out. VN-Index posts biggest one-day jump in fortnight
The index closed 11.87 points higher after gaining 10.26 points Friday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 18.77% to VND15.51 trillion ($662.69 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 22 tickers gain. BID of lender BIDV rose 4.6% to a four-month high. HDB of lender HDBank also hit four-month high after climbing 3.5%. Other gainers included MWG of electronics retailer Mobile World, up 3.2%, CTG of lender VietinBank, up 2.8%, and FPT of IT giant FPT Corp, up 2.8%. Only four blue chips bucked the trend, with VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities both losing 0.6%. BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings closed 0.5% lower, and GAS of Petrovietnam Gas dropped 0.3%. The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi last weekend shared a video on its Facebook page, showing the U.S. ambassador and food blogger Thuyen Vo trying the broken rice dish with grilled pork, bi (shredded pork skin) and cha (Vietnamese meatloaf with steamed pork, egg and other ingredients inside) at Moc's Restaurant in District 1. After trying the rice and the bi and the cha in his plate, using a pair of chopsticks, Knapper said in Vietnamese: "Rat la ngon!" ("Very delicious!") He said later in an embassy's statement: "It was great to have real com tam right here in Ho Chi Minh City with food blogger Thuyen Vo. HAGL profits up 25% on rising pig prices
Its revenues were VND393 billion, most of which came from fruit (VND186 billion) and animal husbandry (VND145 billion). Growth was mainly driven by surging pig prices.
