Vietnam to replant 107,000ha of coffee by 2025
Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Dak Lak (VNA) - Vietnam aims to replant or transplant about 107,000ha of coffee in the 2021 – 2025 period, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). According to a project approved recently by the ministry, the productivity is expected to rise to 3.5 tonnes of coffee bean per ha, with an income 1.5-2 times higher than before, the ministry said. The combined area in the five Central Highland provinces is projected at around 91,000ha, with Lam Dong making the largest share (36,000ha), followed by Dak Lak (24,000ha), Dak Nong (18,000ha), Gia Lai (11,000ha) and Kon Tum (5,000ha). Other localities like Son La, Dien Bien, Quang Tri, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau will together contribute 16,000ha. Vietnam’s seafood exports near $5.8bn in January-June
Vietnam’s seafood exports were estimated at nearly US$5.8 billion in the first half of 2022, up 40 percent compared to the same period last year, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported. Although the growth has shown signs of slowing down, seafood exports in June still brought in over $1 billion, similar to May and up 23 percent year on year. In the second quarter of 2022, the industry's sales exceeded $3.2 billion, a nearly 36 percent increase compared to the $2.4 billion recorded in the same period of 2021. Shrimp exports in the first six months topped $2.3 billion, up 33 percent year on year and accounting for 40 percent of the country’s seafood shipments. Inflation and lack of raw materials are posing challenges for local shrimp businesses, thus many firms have decided to increase the proportion of value-added shrimp and sell them to demanding markets such as Japan, the U.S., and the EU. Vietnam seeks ways to step up food exports to African market
Statistics showed that in the first five months of 2022, Vietnam shipped 2.38 million USD worth of the products to Algeria. Rice was the major export product of Vietnam to Africa, which accounted for 20 percent of total export revenue generated from the market, which is also a promising land for Vietnamese coffee and peppercorn. Each year, African countries spend about 750 million USD on importing coffee. Vietnam has been one of the five major suppliers of the product in Africa. Experts reminded Vietnamese exporters to pay greater attention to transport and preservation stages when exporting goods to Africa. Vietnam Airlines relaunches services to Indonesia
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines resumes services between Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta (Indonesia) on July 2. (Photo: VNA) The first flight in months, coded VN631, departed from HCMC for Jakarta at around 9:40am, with 144 passengers on board; and the return flight took off from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 1:50pm carrying 171 passengers. There are now regular round trips on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. This is another international destination Vietnam Airlines has relaunched air route to after the Vietnam reopened its border and lifted travel restrictions. Vietnam logs 730 new COVID-19 cases on July 2
COVID-19 vaccination (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam reported an additional 730 COVID-19 cases and no death on July 2, according to the Ministry of Health. The new infections brought the country’s total caseload to 10,748,127 since the pandemic broke out. As many as 9,694 patients were declared to be free from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on the day, raising the total number of recoveries to 9,699,357. Meanwhile, the death toll related to the disease was kept at 43,047, accounting for 0.4% of the total infections. Vietnam to send 155-strong delegation to 11th ASEAN Para Games

With 14 sports, the 11th ASEAN Para Games is scheduled to take place in Indonesia from July 26 to August 7. Apart from the 122 athletes, the delegation will also include 18 coaches, two doctors, and 13 cadres. They will compete in eight sports, namely athletics, swimming, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and archery. Vietnam a regional FDI magnet say experts
