Students take part in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2022- 2022 academic year. Students who are confirmed cases of Covid-19 and want to participate in the exam have to display an application for the examination with the signature of parents or guardians. Candidates, teachers and other staff who will invigilate the examination have to strictly comply with Covid-19 prevention regulations. The municipal Department of Education and Training asked its units in Thu Duc City and 21 districts across the city to take responsibility for coordinating with the Steering Committees for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to implement medical works and measures against the virus during the exam. The silver in the event went to Phoo War of Myanmar and the bronze was shared by Chankanika (Cambodia) and Wetan (Indonesia). In other events the same day, a group of four Vietnamese Vovinam artists claimed one silver in weapon self-defence for man, with the gold belonging to Myanmar and the bronze shared by Cambodia and Indonesia. Vietnam Airlines posts $113 mln Q1 loss
Revenues were up 55 percent year-on-year to VND11.6 trillion, the highest since 2020, when Covid-19 started to cripple the aviation industry. But it reported a ninth consecutive quarterly loss, with a total gross loss from the sales of products and services of around VND1.6 trillion due to higher costs. Fuel, for example, cost VND465 billion more than budgeted and accounted for 30 percent of transport costs. The carrier said the results clearly reflected the impact of Covid on the aviation industry despite the relatively quick recovery by the domestic market. Meanwhile, international services remain in limbo, and the Russia-Ukraine crisis has driven fuel prices up sharply. Vietnam records 1,831 new COVID-19 cases on May 18

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - There were 1,831 COVID-19 infections registered across Vietnam on May 18, an increase of 45 new cases compared to the number reported on the previous day. The new transmissions were detected in 48 cities and provinces, bringing the country's tally to 10,701,796. The capital city of Hanoi still topped the country in terms of new daily infections, with 403 patients. It was followed by northern Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho provinces, with 139 and 125 cases. There was one COVID-19 related death reported in on the day, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 43,072, accounting for 0.4 percent of total cases. A total of 8,437 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,373,294 since the pandemic began. U.N. promises support for Vietnam’s energy transition scheme
Special Adviser to the U.N. Secretary General on Climate Action Selwin Hart handed over the letter to Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the U.N. at a meeting in New York on May 18. COVID-19: Vietnam reports 1,716 new cases on May 19

Hanoi reported the highest number of infections on the day with 381 cases, followed by Nghe An with 126 and Phu Tho with 111. The northern province of Bac Giang registered an additional 1,012 cases from earlier days after verifying information. The national tally reached 10,704,524. A total 9,587 COVID-19 patients were given the all clear on May 19, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 9,382,881. There are 206 patients needing breathing support, while one death was recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 43,073.
