The HCM City Department of Tourism has proposed opening helicopter tours to see the city from above. Under the department’s recommendation sent to the municipal people’s committee, the helicopter service will operate until December with flights three days per week. Passengers on a helicopter tour in HCM City On the recent Reunification Day and May Day, the department co-operated with Military Hospital 175 and the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company to pilot five helicopter tours carrying 80 passengers. More than 200 other passengers have also booked tours with HCM City’s travel firms. Many passengers expressed their interest in helicopter trips connecting HCM City and its districts of Can Gio and Cu Chi and the neighbouring province of Long And. SEA Games 31: Vietnam’s bodybuilders pocket two more gold medals

In the women’s singles, Dinh Kim Loan obtained a gold while her teammate Bui Thi Thoa a bronze medal. Both showed excellent performance against strong rivals from Malaysia and Thailand. In the mixed doubles, Tran Hoang Duy Thuan and Bui Thi Thoa also gained the top place. Thuan was the one who earned a gold medal in the men’s 70kg category on May 14. As Vietnam reopens its borders to tourism, attracting, developing and retaining a quality workforce has become the top priority for this industry. With borders reopened and tourism promotion campaigns launched in Vietnam, hotels, tour operators and ancillary service providers across the country might be facing a major problem: shortage of qualified labor. Dr Nuno F. Ribeiro, RMIT University Vietnam During the worst period of the pandemic in 2020-2021, many tourism organizations had to reduce their (experienced) workforce. A report by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that tourism businesses cut staff by 70-80% in 2020. In 2021, the number of full-time tourism employees was down to 25% of the 2020 level, and about 30% quit their jobs or had their contracts terminated. PM calls for American investors to boost tourism cooperation with Vietnam
"Vietnam has brought the pandemic under control and resumed tourism and aviation activities. The first group of foreign travelers returning to Vietnam after the country reopened its borders from March 15 was from the U.S.," Chinh told a conference on trade, investment and tourism promotion between Vietnam and the U.S. in San Francisco on May 17. Before the pandemic, the U.S. was among the 10 largest source markets of Vietnam's tourism. In 2019, there were over 746,000 American tourists visiting Vietnam and the average growth rate during the 2014-2019 period was 11 percent. A Vietnam Airlines spokesman told the conference the national flag carrier now operates four weekly flights between San Francisco and Ho Chi Minh City, using Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 craft and it plans to operate daily flights between both cities from next year. Night tour of Thang Long Citadel revives ancient royal customs
Hanoi last month resumed its night tour of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a complex of buildings first constructed in 1011 under the reign of King Ly Thai To. It was constructed on the remains of a Chinese fortress dating from the seventh century, on drained land reclaimed from Red River Delta in Hanoi. It was the center of regional political power for almost 13 centuries, from the Ly, Tran to Le dynasties. The tour that lasts an hour and a half starts from Doan Mon, the main gate of the imperial citadel at 18 Hoang Dieu Street, Ba Dinh District. From the gate tourists commence along roads paved with lemon flower bricks built under Tran Dynasty to Thien An Palace.
