At the working session, Rear Admiral Nguyen Van Lam, President of the Naval Academy, briefed the Cambodian guests on the history, tradition, missions, achievements and orientation for the development of the academy. He also updated the visiting mission on the academy’s outcomes in training Cambodian naval cadets and officers. Over the past years, the Naval Academy has trained thousands of Cambodian naval officers. In recent years, despite the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the academy has still continued its training programs for Cambodian cadets as planned. Vietnam Airlines licensed to operate extended flight range
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has licensed Vietnam Airlines to operate Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTOs) aircraft with two engines, reaching 207 minutes for Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 240 minutes for Airbus A350 aircraft. EDTO are any operation by an airplane with two or more turbine engines where the diversion time to an en-route alternate aerodrome is greater than the threshold time established by the State of the Operator, according to a definition by the International Civil Aviation Organization. For example, if an aircraft is rated for EDTO-180, it means that it is able to fly with full load and just one engine for three hours. The higher the EDTO rate of an airline’s aircraft is, the farther the aircraft can fly away from the alternate airport, helping the carrier to arrange a shorter, more direct route, saving time and fuel. Indian tourists keen on Vietnam trip as direct routes increase
The search volume for direct flights to Vietnam from India in early April grew by 400 percent year-on-year and over 3,000 percent in late May, according to data from Google's Destination Insights. The frequency of searches for accommodation from Indian tourists by mid-June tripled compared to early April. Vietnamese carriers are racing to launch more direct flights connecting tourist hotspots with Indian cities, with India being one of Vietnam's growing tourism markets before the pandemic. Vietjet Air earlier this month announced direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to India's commercial hub, Mumbai. Vietnam Airlines last week launched direct services between Hanoi, HCMC and New Delhi, becoming the second Vietnamese carrier to fly to India.
