Politburo member receives Japanese Ambassador

The visit from September 15-18 contributed to boosting the bilateral relations in a more comprehensive, practical and sustainable manner, said Rua, who is Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group.  He suggested the diplomat continue coordinating with Vietnamese ministries and sectors to effectively implement agreements reached during the visit.  The ambassador, in turn, affirmed he will work to realise agreements, including the Vietnam-Japan University project, while wishing that the two countries’ agencies would continue dealing with existing issues to put the university into operation and promote practical and effective cooperation in education-training and human resources development.  He also vowed to do his utmost to expand bilateral ties in all fields to further develop the two countries’ extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in order to … [Read more...] about Politburo member receives Japanese Ambassador

Vietnam, South Korea to curb visa brokering

The exercise aims to prevent issuance of visas to people looking to overstay and work illegally in the country, Ambassador Park Noh-wan said. "South Korea’s five-year visa policy for Vietnam could result in people staying in South Korea illegally. The two countries are considering simplifying visa issuance processes to prevent interference from middlemen (third parties that provide visas unofficially)," Park said at a press meet. He was referring to a South Korean policy issued last year, allowing Vietnamese from Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC to have C-3 visas, which would allow holders to stay in South Korea for up to 30 days with no restrictions on the number of visits for a period of five years. The two countries are moving towards allowing visa exemption for their citizens, he added. South Korea is one of the largest labor export markets for Vietnam. Vietnamese Ambassador delivers speech at int’l Red Cross conference

(Photo: VNA) Geneva (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador Duong Chi Dung highlighted what Vietnam has done to contribute to international humanitarian aid efforts while delivering a remark at the 33rd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva, Switzerland from December 9 – 12. Despite facing difficulties during wartime in 1960s and 1970s, Vietnam had strived hard to fulfill the country’s obligations in accordance to the Geneva Convention, said Ambassador Dung, who is head of Vietnam’s permanent mission to the United Nations. The country ensured sufficient provision of medical aid, food supplies, shelters and clean water for ill and injured people, and returned prisoners, he said. Vietnam’s top legislator begins official visit to Belarus

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and her entourage arrived at Minsk International Airport on December 12 morning, beginning a three-day official visit to Belarus. National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan The trip is made at the invitation of Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the NA of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko. Welcoming the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Isachenko Anatoly Mikhailovich, other officials of the Council, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Pham Hai.
