The fifth congress of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA)'s Hanoi chapter on August 10 agreed to further contribute to consolidating and fostering friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries as well as between the capital city and Cambodian localities. Vietnam needs $8 bln-$14 bln power investment a year through 2030: minister
HANOI -- Vietnam will need investment of between $8 billion and $14 billion a year through to 2030 to develop new power plants and expand its grid, its deputy industry minister said on Wednesday. Of the amount, 75% would be spent on new power plants, with priority given to renewable sources, and 25% on grid expansion, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An said in a statement. He said the country will seek to raise funds from private investors for the new power projects, without elaborating. Vietnam, a regional manufacturing hub, needs to increase its installed power generation capacity by around 10% a year to support its fast-growing economy and population. An said Vietnam, which pledged last year to become carbon-neutral by 2050, will raise its offshore wind capacity to 7 gigawatts (GW) by 2030 and to 65 GW by 2045, while cutting the proportion of coal in its energy mix. E-book “Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh Era – A Television History” debuts
The book series is compiled on the basis of a documentary film of the same name which was aired in 2021. It was developed by the Vietnam National Documentary Film Studio in coordination with the PCC's Commission for Information and Education, and the Su That National Political Publishing House. The e-book features more than 1,000 video clips on historical events via images and sound, allowing audiences to easily access on various electronic devices with different technical infrastructure. In his speech at the event, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh said the documentary series reflects systematically the development process of the Vietnamese revolution, which ushered in the Ho Chi Minh era - the most brilliant era in the nation's history. Storm Mulan to hit northern coast Thursday morning
It was centered around 200 kilometers from Bach Long Vi Island in northern Hai Phong City as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. In the next 12 hours, it would move west-northwest at 15-20 kph and will hit the seas of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh Thursday morning before weakening into a tropical depression. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Mulan will move between China’s Leizhou Peninsula and Hainan Island at a speed of 65 kph before entering Quang Ninh and Hai Phong.
